you/subscriptions?type=comment not working anymore. Answered

I didn't use it that much, but It did help me discover new instructables. When I click "Comments" on the link in You>Subscriptions, it just sits there and loads for half an hour and then the browser says "Connection Timed Out". Windows 7 with FF 3.6.6

The connection should time out in five minutes, not thirty (that's the HTTP specificaiton). I just tried from my own profile and it worked fine, in less than 30 seconds. I got comments "1-20 of 74323" (and the NEXT button works :-).

Okay, so maybe I was exaggerating a little about the 30 minutes. But it does sit there for quite a while before it times out. Hmmm... I wonder why it doesn't load.

How many users are you subscribed to? I would expect the back-end search to scale linearly with the number of subscriptions. If that exceeds the 300 s HTTP timeout limit, you're hosed.

Is 15 a bit much? I'm subscribed to a few silly ones, like the instructables guide account, and the Robot. Noahw hasn't posted anything in awhile either. I guess I could unsubscribe from a few accounts if that is the reason.

That's odd. 15 is about how many subscriptions I have. And the K'nexers seem to wallow in cross-subscribing. You shouldn't be hanging things up the way you described. Are you still seeing the same problem, or was it perhaps just a server-side glitch?

No, I get a "504 Gateway Time-out. The server didn't respond in time." after a bit.
