Overview

Frying magically transforms flavorless poultry into something you’d purchase by the bucket. The staccato kisses of hot oil turn raw potato slices into glorious chips. The fryer is responsible for pretty much everything good about breakfast, too: doughnuts, bacon, hash browns, eggs, and French toast are all children born from the special lubricious hug that oil gives to foods that it loves very much.

Frying is the perfect way to prepare food. It’s quick, economical, delicious, and ubiquitous, though not nutritious. This summer we’re looking for your best fried recipes, whether they’re a daily staple or a fairgrounds curiosity. Share your recipe to win a deep fryer, frying pan, and other cool prizes.

Specifically, we want to see well-executed basics like potatoes, chickens, and other commonly fried foodstuffs. We also want to see recipes that push the limits of this cooking technique. Fry using cold oil, freeze before frying, double-fry, make a Modernist Cuisine burger, or deep fry a stick of butter. Get creative, have fun, and remember to be safe.

Multiple entries are accepted, but each entrant can only win one prize. Contest is open to entries from US, Canada [excluding Quebec], UK, China, Belgium, the Netherlands, Australia, Colombia, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, India, New Zealand, and Denmark. The Contest begins at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PT), May 13, 2013. Contest closes for entries at 11:59pm PT, June 10, 2013.

The winner(s) will be solely responsible for complying with any and all applicable statutes, laws (including, without limitation, common law, if applicable), rules and regulations and for bearing any personal income tax, VAT, withholding taxes, customs duties, or other taxes, fees, insurance, surcharges or other costs relating to receiving, claiming or collecting any prize.
