Overview

While there are plenty of people who innovate, create and build things all over the world, few are able to solve just about any problem, on a budget, with items found lying around the compound as well as the redneck. For many years now Instructables has wanted to run a redneck contest to honor and support this unsung hero of the maker community and we're excited to announce that we're finally ready to join our strong willed, catfish noodling, explosion tire mounting redneck friends in the literal and proverbial sun.

So listen up everyone out there, Put on a pair of pants, or not, grab a beer, or 6, head on out to the backyard and make something that will blow us away.

Any project that our judges deem to be "redneck" is appropriate, including, but not limited to, catapults, fire, destruction, mud, trucks, ATV's cannons, paintball, flags, things that go fast, home brewing, alcohol, camouflage, beer, wolf bed spreads, eagle portraits, lay-z-boy couches, trailers, trailer hitches, truck nuts, ez cook recipes, liquid cheese, guns, gun racks, Lynard Skynard, demolition, above ground pools, nascar, smoking meat, tailgating, tobacco, deep frying or any one of the so many amazing redneck projects that we've seen go by over the years.

For additional inspiration and direction check out some great redneck projects that are already on the site in the DIY Redneck Guide. We look forward to seeing your submissions, and to rednecks everywhere - we salute you!
