Arduino Sms

Hello,  I'm completely new to Arduino and wondering if anyone could help me.  i'm doing an art piece on communications and interactions around the world.  Each person will have there own led light.  Whenever people contact me from around the world eva text or call (preferably through wifi), I want they're light to flash for a few seconds.  No idea what parts I need and how to achieve this.  Hope this makes sense to anyone and have any advice for me?

Arduino Projects ITT

I've been doing research into some home brewed add-on people have made for Arduino. I was surprised to find that there are a ton of custom shields that people have developed and sell right now (check this out: http://shieldlist.org/).  This gave me some ideas for developing products myself. I'm trying to gauge what people are looking for in new Arduino product. If you could take a really quick survey that I designed to test the market, I'd really appreciate it? On a related point, I was wondering about the feasibility of a brushless motor shield. I am working on an Arduino based dual rotor mulicopter with some friends (here is a link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC566tCzMbp-S5ThKuPQO_6g. We aren't too far in yet). I think for others that make "Arducopter", it would be nice to do away with external ESCs for controlling brushless motors. I think it would be far more convenient to have a shield that acts as a substitute for ESCs and also act as a power distribution platform for on board components. Is it dangerous to be running that much current on a PCB on top of an Arduino? Would it be wise to connect a 3S LiPo in parallel with the shield ESC and an Arduino, or could that damage my Arduino? Thanks in advice for the help!

Big mural painter - arduino

I have a dream of being able to paint big space buildings like facades and factory buildings. My dream is to collaborate with city governments to create murals in abandoned former industrial areas. My idea is to create a device with spray cans, electro motors and a software that can communicate a picture into pixels for the spraying device to detect and print on to the wall. See drawing for description. If somebody is interested in designing this I will buy the material for testing and so on... I am completely new to arduino and if someone to start with would tell me if the idea is to far away from reality, that could also be a good start... :-) This was a quick shout out to begin with. Looking for a 5V valve to be driven by ARDUINO

Hi everybody, I am working on a project to make an automatic watering system driven by arduino. I am looking for a valve which I could operate without any extra power supply but the 5V from the ARDUINO. It would be perfect if the valve could be in the range of the 6mm for tubes connections. As my project will rely on gravity for water movements, I don't want to use a pump or whatever active device. Just some standard batteries connected to ARDUINO. Do some of you know such a valve? I have looked on the net without any success. I have found loads of watering projects using arduino but none with the same phylosphy. If you know one, please let me know. Regards,

k-line arduino project, speed and brake light

Hello. I have a simple task to achieve, I guess, but I'm stuck. I'm using the setup from the attached image. All I need to do is to read the Speed of the vehicle using data from the obd2 k-line pin, and then to send a command to blink the brake lights when a certain decrease in speed is detected (e.g. more than 2km/h/s). I can not initialize the k-line and I am not able to red anything on the serial monitor on arduino :(. After I manage to read the raw data I am planing to figure out what's the code for turning on the brake lights by just simply pressing the brake pedal. The vehicle is an 2004 BMW E60, but I guess this is not an issue. Question... Are the TX/RX pins connected as it shod on the arduino board? Thank you. Ant help would be appreciated. I need this for a school project and a have a deadline :(((

Hi Art+Tech lovers Is it possible to track a simple object and calculate it's distance with an Arduino + (Arduino-)camera. I would use a simple tele lens so the distance between the camera and the object can range between 0.5 and 10 meters. The camera can be mounted on 2 servo motors for pan-tilt movement. Everything sits on top of a 2m pole, carried by a person.  And best wishes for 2016! Philippe

Terrace Cooling System - Ideas

Hi, my name is Michael and I'm from Austria. Nowadays we have about 38°C (100°F). We have a Terrace which has a area of 33m² (355.21ft²). This terrace has a roof, which consists of polycarbonate plates. We have the problem that it is very hot on our terrace although we use awnings. Now I've discovered some ideas how i could cool down our terrace. The first one could be a water cycle, with a container and a pump. Then the pump could pump up the water. The water flows down the roof and flows back into the container. I don't know if this is a efficient way to cool down our terrace? The 2nd possibility I discovered is water mist. I found this video to show the principle: http://youtu.be/bYTcMCm2zWg I don't know if it is possible to sit underneath the water mist without getting wet?? I just want some Ideas and oppinions. Maybe some of you have realized their own cooling system? I know how to program an Arduino and other microcontrollers and I am able to develop electronic circuits. So I think i have the basic knowledge for building such a system, but I can't decide which principle i should use? I am sorry for my bad english skills, but i hope that you can understand me.  Thanks in advance Mike

how can i connect photo interrupter and dc motor to arduino l293d?

Basically the motor should rotate the shaft in both directions to open and close the garage door, the purpose of interrupter is the let the motor know that the door is closed or open and i need suggestions as to what i should be using as sensor which could detect any object interrupting the closing of the door and stop the motor. If you suggest me a sensor please also tell me how to connect that sensor to the arduino

Brown Dog Build Night at Banjarapalya Makerspace

Hey again from the Banjarapalya Makerspace, Last month we did quite a few build nights on the brown dog solar panels and the makers came up with some amazingly cool projects. I need to build a networkable relay control for a water pump.

There is a water tank on top of this villa (about 40m up.) On the ground floor is the pump. I wanted to put a fluid level indicator in the tank that can be hooked up to a PCB. The board will then be hooked up to our internal network. At the pump will be a relay to turn it on and off, also on the network. This way the pump will turn on and off automatically.Ideally, the whole system would be web enabled and allow for logging, but that more of a "wish list" then a requirement. could I do something like this with an arduino board? I don't have much experience with them, but I'd love to learn more about them.

Idea for Social Electronic Art

Hi everyone, I have been working on an idea for a new type of electronic creative art form. Social media has increasingly become cloud and computer-based, enabling people to network and share ideas and concepts online with others from around the world; this community is an excellent example of the power of electronics in fostering shared creativity. Art has always been an important aspect of society, bringing people together through the power of self-expression. In recent years, graffiti parks have become a popular method for communities to express themselves in a constructive way. In the area of electronics, circuitry and robotics have become increasingly accessible through open-source programs such as Arduino, enabling anyone to build complex and beautiful projects in their own garages (or anywhere!). This idea focuses on blending the social aspect of conventional art mediums with the untapped potential of electronic technology. One new technology in particular that has taken the first step towards merging the different fields of creativity is conductive ink and paint, created by Bare Conductive. This graphene-based material enables users to paint circuits and electrical systems onto most surfaces, opening up the entire world as a building area. Essentially, this is the focus of the idea- creative communities making the world their canvas through the power of conductive ink and open-source electronics tools. Imagine the possibilites! Walls covered with lights that can be activated by touching a drawn image, buildings covered with playable arcade games and interactive media, and childrens' parks with community-sourced learning tools on the play area! About making Single Board Computers...

Hi guys! I just wondered how can I make a custom Single Board Computer... I am interested to make a custom 8 bit AVR SBC and 32 bit ARM SBC (Must I learn even with the 16 bit architecture?) in a cheap way and without the aid of Raspberry Pi and Arduino. I have these questions: - There is any book or else about learn making Single Board Computers? - Where can I find the components for the board? - I can program and I know a few of many languages (C,C++,Python,Javascript,HTML5,CSS,PHP,MySql). Must I make an OS for everything for make my board work or I can make a "bootable software" (like a MP3 player)? And again,there is a book or else for learn this? Thank you for your time!

Separate Sand and Water in Glass Vase

I'd like to hear some suggestions for separating sand and water in a 4" diameter glass vase. I'm doing an arduino project that involves having a dyed deep blue mineral oil as a non-evaporating "water" atop about 4 inches of sand in a glass vase. I experimented with drizzling Loctite epoxy and it leaked about 1/4" into the sand, so it wasn't very elegant (created a layered look - dry sand, wet sand, epoxy, water). I'd like the delineation to be as clean, but easily implemented, as possible. Worst case scenario is that I wrap something around the vase to hide the transition, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.  I suppose another option is to stack 2 separate glass vessels, but im struggling with thinking of a good way to do that too... Perhaps this is also a non-issue...I should see if the deep blue mineral oil is even visible if put directly INTO the sand. Thanks in advance.

Ballerina Jewelry Box Project

Hello, I am interested in creating a jewelry box for my niece. The idea is to laser-cut a custom box which I think I can find templates of online and create an SVG file with some art for the laser cutter. I plan to 3D print a ballerina as well. I initially thought of running the electronics with Arduino - but prefer to keep it simple.  I want to have a custom song/melody playing - I was thinking of perhaps some sort of a recording/playback speaker where I can record the song initially and then have it play back - ideas? For simplicity - do you think it is possible to run a simple circuit with a couple AA/AAA batteries, a hinge control (ideas for something that will do the trick and act as a switch are very much welcome too), a speaker, and some sort of a stepper motor/servo to spin the ballerina. I would love to get some ideas and supplies from you. This should be a pretty straightforward, simple project but I don't have much electronic experience and am not sure what to search to find the technology I need. Thank you, KoMoDo

Grow a plant in my locker?

Currently, this is an idea, and i am simply expanding on it. I had this great idea, mostly as a joke, why not grow a plant in a spare locker? I am currently a high school student that goes to a small school, and have way too much time on my hands. As i was looking at the empty lockers we have from students who left, or even just spares, an idea hit me. Why not put one of these lockers to good use? Why not put a plant inside of it, that can sustain most if not all of itself? Have a gallon of water in there, along with an arduino and a moisture sensor, that would end up watering the plant. I would also have an artificial light source to provide light, preferably LED. The hardest bit is the power. All of this would run off of either a SLA battery or two, or maybe a drill battery. I could swap the battery once every day, which means it would need to go for 24 hours without stopping. That, and the weekends, which would be three full days. I first thought about mushrooms, or other dark growing plants, but i find that boring, lacking a challenge. besides doing this just for jokes, i have also wanted to try out the idea of growing a plant fully indoors without the use of natural sunlight. I have never done this, so please feel free to bombard me with recommendations. Again, this is only an idea. I can only assume it's possible. Also, recommendations on parts and methods would be sweet. Some type of light that can be powered on 12-24v, and run off of a SLA or maybe even a lawnmower battery for minimum of 3 days. Also, plant. I was thinking a tomato plant? Some species that doesn't grow taller than 2.5ft? Anyway, that's the idea. If you guys could help with ideas, provide recommendations, or point me in the correct direction, that'd be sweet. Last note, i would like to keep this cheap. I am not going for some extreme garden or anything. Just a single plant, in a semi-self sustaining locker.

Advanced Helmet By: Arseny Ratnikov I want to create a helmet that looks like a sci fi helmet (mass effect, titanfall, halo, etc.) and that; **Want to make cool helmet, need help with having multiple camera feed output to multiple screens** * Protects my head (able to decrease force from impact by significant degree) * Can filter the air I breath (does not need to be super extreme filter, just filter out general junk, the better the filter the more pleased I am, but if it becomes too bulky/expensive then it is unnecessary)(Optional/Most Likely) * Has a HUD with my vitals on it. I would wear some sensors, such as HR monitor to have some cool biofeedback, maybe also include other information.(option) * Maybe even have it be a digital display where there are cameras on the front and maye back of the helmet that then are displayed on the interior screen, where I have voice commands setup for some different things. * Have the helmet be as sound proof as possible and have microphones where my ears would be, then inside the helmet speakers, so that I can modify the noise around me to be how I want it to be. I understand this would be rather difficult (at least including all of the bullets) and that it could even be a touch silly. Yet, I find this a rather intriguing pursuit and think it will help contribute to becoming a cyborg. Any tips would be greatly appreciated as I don't really know where to start for this. I can imagine a lot of the work might be done on an arduino, but I simply don't know the feasibility of modifying noises of the world around you and having the cameras on the helmet. So here's a little prioritization sheet I worked out, it is not exactly in order, and maybe you all have some suggestions on what might be more critical to design and functionality. Prioritization 1.
