bending wood? Answered

 I am planning a project to build a wooden shield, and I need to know what the cheapest way to take a single sheet of balsa wood and bend it slightly and keep it like that. it will also have a design on it and I want it to look good. If you guys can help me in making it, the person with the best answer will be credited in the insructable. here is a reference picture. P.S. this is MY idea so if anyone posts an instructable on it, prepare for the gates of Hell to open.

Arduino Projects ITT

I've been doing research into some home brewed add-on people have made for Arduino. I was surprised to find that there are a ton of custom shields that people have developed and sell right now (check this out: http://shieldlist.org/).  This gave me some ideas for developing products myself. I'm trying to gauge what people are looking for in new Arduino product. If you could take a really quick survey that I designed to test the market, I'd really appreciate it? Here is a link to it: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PTSDD8Z Please let me know what you guys think would make great products for Arduino! On a related point, I was wondering about the feasibility of a brushless motor shield. I am working on an Arduino based dual rotor mulicopter with some friends (here is a link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC566tCzMbp-S5ThKuPQO_6g. We aren't too far in yet). I think for others that make "Arducopter", it would be nice to do away with external ESCs for controlling brushless motors. I think it would be far more convenient to have a shield that acts as a substitute for ESCs and also act as a power distribution platform for on board components. Is it dangerous to be running that much current on a PCB on top of an Arduino? Would it be wise to connect a 3S LiPo in parallel with the shield ESC and an Arduino, or could that damage my Arduino? Thanks in advice for the help!

can I make an RFID blocking wallet using aluminum foil instead of cans?

If aluminum cans can block RFID signals, how many layers of laminated aluminum foil (or, alternatively aluminum tape) would be needed to effectively shield a wallet?

How do I make an attractive toilet paper shield to keep my 7 cats from shredding my TP?

Please don't tell me to "turn the roll around" or to lock the cats out of the bathroom. These are not feasible. The kitties shread the roll no matter position it is in, and we've got one litter box that MUST be in the bathroom. I have 7 cats, and they need a box in almost every room in the house. I've been keeping the current roll in the cabinet, but I'm getting pretty sick of having to hide the roll every time I go to the bathroom. There has to be a better way. I want ideas on how to make a simple, attractive, and durable cover for the toilet paper roll. I'm almost ready to go out and buy a commercial cover, but I think they are hideous -- great gargantuan hunks of plastic. Much thanks for ideas... Using Radiant Alumipex for Solar Pool Heater

Hello everyone, First time here, found lots of info but have question about using this type of piping. I've noticed most people use either black hose or irrigation pipe. I have extra black radiant heat hose and was thinking it would be much better. Its black hose shell with a thin aluminum shielding then thick white pipe inside. It says rated for 200F - 100psi and is 1/2 thick. Brand name caked Weil-Mclain Alumipex for Radiant 1/2nom 1216 PEX-AL-PEX. Can someone please let me know if this would work. Thanks. Brian

is there any way to glue laminated paper to itself?

I have some paper pieces that I laminated with a laminating machine - so it has that smooth tough glossy plastic shielding all around it.  I want to glue the laminated paper together and nothing seems to hold so far.   I have tried roughening up the parts to be glued with a file and super glue - no good.  I've tried "Tacky Glue" - nothing.    I also tried heating up the surfaces to be glued with a hot knife in an attempt to roughen it up and then glue it - not working. I thought heat might work, but I don't have a way to administer the heat to the areas without causing damage Staples work, but they mar the aesthetics - and in some places I don't have a long enough stapler to reach where I need the connection. Thanks for any info -foo

Seedbank = Arctic Bunker

Norway has built a pretty awesome1 seed storage facility over 400 feet under a frozen arctic mountain. Further chilled by air conditioners to reach -0.4F, the seeds should be safe for up to 1000 years. Hooray for biodiversity!From an AP article:The vault will serve as a backup for hundreds of other seed banks worldwide. It has the capacity to store 4.5 million seed samples from around the world and shield them from man-made and natural disasters.Dug into the permafrost of the mountain, it has been built to withstand an earthquake or a nuclear strike.The seeds are packed in silvery foil containers -- as many as 500 in each sample -- and placed on blue and orange metal shelves inside three 32-foot-by-88-foot storage chambers. Each vault can hold 1.5 million sample packages of all types of crop seeds, from carrots to wheat.1Did you see Alien vs. Predator? Remember the big Antarctic bunker/pyramid? The Norwegians clearly did too.

How would 'Rich' people live in The Green City?

I've been asked, "How would Rich people live in my Green City?". Since The Green City is a forum for pure Freedom in every sense of the word (in a good way). Rich people could simply pay for what they want, or need in the Green City. But, it's also a place of serenity. Peace, not full of frustration or anger or hate. It's a good, safe, serene place to live. When I first began discussing The Green Cities possibilities, I started from the ground up. People that already have a lot of money, could simply build what they want in The Green City, but I'm sure as time went on, they would see the 'Good' of what the City is trying to accomplish and they would do whatever they could to help it. If you are Rich you could help shield the Green City from adversity by the power of your money, thus preserving the serenity of the City and the serenity of your home. Not to mention if you have family or friends in the City you would also be helping them out. This is NOT a city where a person can go and become a 'Bum' and live off of others. Everyone MUST contribute something or it is ALL for nothing. Freedom is NOT synonymous with lazy. But, good works can be done in a variety of ways. One does NOT have to work out in the field to do good with those around them. That's all the Green City is about, freedom and doing good to those around you. Simple. Go to: www.thegreencity1.com

JB weld the blade into the handle.loin cloth thing - I might take some brown shorts and bleach the legs...I think i'd be doing everyone a favor by not wearing a real oneArm protectors - Not really sure about these..any ideas?Shield - A Pizza panIf you have any suggestions on how to improve my ideas/answer questions, i'd really appreciate it. So, EMF blocking Stickers, Pendants or Death-Crystals? Answered

Uh, how to start with this one... Local health store started carrying the latest line of emf blocking stickers and pendants. At first I thought good grief, if people are that gullible as to not look into the science behind they perhaps deserve to have there money parted from them. Several weeks later though, a symposium was booked in the local convention hall. I was surprised to learn how many people actually went to this, and were indeed parted with a fair chunk of change. If you look into to it there are numerous if not hundreds of these anti-emf scams abound on the internet all claiming only theirs works... That alone would send my spidey senses tingling. I really don't want to get in to the science behind why this is a scam, and would appreciate answers from people who know what they are talking about rather then those have been duped. Moving on... I am afraid the owner of the health store is going to get slammed on this one eventually. Normally I would say the owner of the store has a good head on her shoulders with an excellent BS sensor. Not so much, this time around. Guess my question would be how to inform her of why its a scam with out her eyes rolling into the back of her head. "Had a friend go the symposium for kicks, "she has a doctorate in bio-engineering, health science and is pursing her latest degree in occupation health sciences." To her shock and delight it was simple for her to see through the scam, but she had to admit his did provide a technical sounding argument, mixing truth with techno babble, that perhaps someone with an understanding of only layman’s terms could be persuaded by. Oh, what to do...

How To Build an underground sandbag bunker complete with sewer and well and air Filtration system for under $2,000

I,m Planning On Building an underground sandbag bunker that will protect against most natural and man made disasters i would use bricks or concrete but that is to expensive and concrete bunkers are prone to leaking and molding unless you have a proper vapor barrier on all sides of the walls and foundation and the roof i am going to make my walls out of sandbags and have good strong posts every few feet or so to prevent cave ins the posts will be good strong 8 inch diameter logs also for the roof I,m going to use 8 inch diameter logs and on the roof i,m going to put 4 feet of packed dirt on it to act as a radiation shield my walls are going to be covered in plastic sheeting or polyethylene or both on the outside for a vapor barrier to prevent moisture from entering in a layer of plastic and polyethylene sheeting in going to cover the bottom of the hole then the floor frame goes on top of that and then i pack the frame with straw for insulation then another layer of plastic and polyethylene goes over that then the plywood goes on last and is screwed to the frame with woods screws i make sure the whole frame is wrapped in polyethylene sheeting and plastic sheeting then once the floor is in place i caulk where the floor and the walls meet with silicone for the roof i put vapor proof sheeting like plastic sheeting or polyethylene down first then the logs then straw for insulation then more vapor proof sheeting then dirt on top of that for the sewer i will use a pipe running from the toilet into a big pit with a lid on it and a pipe coming out of the lid with a fly screen on it for the vent pipe and of course i will reinforce the sewer pit so that it don't cave in and have a drain field and have a door for the bunker that can be locked or barred from the inside and for heat a barrel stove any ideas you may have any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated any problems with my plan please let me know because I,m looking for them so i can fix them in my plans
