What is this type of fastening called and what does it fasten to? Answered

This belonged to my grandmother (the clasp looks post 1930). I assume there would have been some kind of hinged cover over the watch face  (a hinge and catch  are circled). I don't know what the double fanged clip like  thing on the back is called or what it is for.  The double 'fangs' look somewhat like an upholstery pin.  Given that the front is a watch, and one needs to see a watch for it to be useful.... what would this be stuck into or clipped onto?   Anyone familiar with this style?

Melt and Mold Plastic Grocery Bags

Hi - I have been crocheting, knitting and sewing with plastic bags for several years.  Now, I'm wanting to try something new with the plastic bags by molding them into beads, brooches and other fun stuff. Can you safely heat plastic bags to be moldable?    Thanks for any help I can get.....

can i crochet can tabs together to make an evening bag?

I have seen can tabs crocheted together to make a flower brooch, and I can crochet so I tried it, and it sorta worked. Then I saw a bag done in sllightly overlapping can tabs, it had a fish scale effect, done with a silver/gray thread so it doesn't show-- has anyone tried this? t
