Are you clever with cardboard? I need a way to hang a weight from a cardboard rail *please*!

Essentially I have a large cardboard container - approx 1m cubed (1m x 1m x 1m). I'd like to be able to move a mini-platform along the x and y axes i.e. side to side and back to front (not up and down) within the confines of the box. I had thought of two rails, one each along its axis, but I don't know how to make them move. I had also thought that if I were to use rails then a triangular cross-section would be strongest. Any thoughts, please? Thanks for stopping by! Kind regards Kevin

how do you cover cardboard boxes without making it look cheap?

I've gotten pretty good at making boxes for storage but i've only been able to use boxes that have print or images on it. obviously i can't use a box for something with another label already on it. how can i cover this and make it look good and still durable....wrapping in wrapping paper doesn't seem durable to me.

Students build 33 foot tall cardboard tower

This cardboard tower built by students for an exhibition in Paris is 33 feet tall and held together only by screws. It's made up of 96 pieces of cardboard and only took 9 hours to assemble. Even better, no scaffolding was needed as the staircase around it provided all the access the students needed. Cardboard Tower via treehugger

would anyone use a cardboard coffee table?

I ask this question because i was thinking about entering the cardboard challenge. So i started to think of ideas and the first one that poped in to my head was a cardboad coffe table, then I thought about making a lawn chair or things of that nature. Also I thought about this to be a green project because my dad owns a bakery (keylime west inc.) and when he get shipments in of ingredients in there are always extra card board so instead of giving it to a recycling plant I could use it to make furniture

What material i should use to make Alphonse Elric armor?

I want to make the Alphonse Elric cosplay(armored one). i am thinking follow this method; 1) i will print the pdo files using pepakura designer(although i dont know exactly how to scale them and which paper size i should print to) 2) i will put paper patterns to cardboard and cut them 3) Combine and hot glued parts 4) apply body filler to outer surface 5) sanding 6) painting all i want to ask is that can this method work to make a good Al's armor? Can you suggest anything else. This will be my first armor craft. Also i have been thinking about Goldy's Alphonse elric armor tutorial. He used different materials like polyurethan foam some adhesives and vinyl. His Al cosplay is the best i think but the materials he used are difficult to supply here in my city should i use these materials and start from 2nd step above(except sanding and painting) or can i go with cardboard method. Also can you give me advices for both techniques. Thanks...

It's just a basic solar cooker - cardboard, black paint and aluminium foil - but discussing it in terms of sustainability and carbon credits makes it worth 75,000GBP and potential mass-marketing contracts.(Cynical? Blakes 7 Teleport Bracelet

This is how to make the magic blakes seven teleport bracelet!Ingredients:one cardboard roll, such as a poster or postal cylinder or the cardboard roll from inside a roll of packing tape; diameter 8.5cm, width 4cm (cut to this width if need be, using a saw or knife)cardboard, thick enough to be sturdy, thin enough to be flexiblethin cork (optional)plain paperglueblack or dark brown foam rubber (optional)silver tape width 1.5cm OR aluminuim foil cut or folded to width 1.5cmAntique Gold or metallic brown paintgrey paint OR a round grey button 2cm diameter OR grey tapered paint OR pink paint OR red paint + pearl nailpolishbrown packing tape or beige paintclear or red contact (optional)Visual Reference:Refer to the Liberator Teleport Bracelet diagram in the Horizon Technical Manual.Instructions:Cut your roll to the right width if need be. If the roll is too thin and flimsy, stick a layer of cardboard over it. Cover the rough edges with paper.Cut five strips of cardboard, one 15x3cm, one 9x3cm, one 1.3x3cm, and two 2.5x1cm (measurements will vary depending on the precise size of the cardboard roll). If the cardboard is thin, cut twice as many strips. If you are using thin cork, cut one strip each from the cork also.Stick the strips onto the roll, making sure they evenly positioned in the center. Check the diagram for where to stick them: the two long strips should be next to each other with a small gap representing where the hinge of the bracelet would go if it had a hinge. The small 1.3x3cm strip goes in the larger gap between the long strips - this is where the red button will go. If using cork, stick the cork down first, and the cardboard on top. When all the glue is dry, paint the bracelet with antique gold or metallic brown enamel paint. Do more than one coat if you think that will look better. Wait for the paint to dry.The red receive-button is made from the two smallest strips of cardboard stuck together, covered with white paper, painted red, and covered with contact to make it shiny. Another way of doing this is painting it red, and then painting it with white-pearl nailpoilish to get that glowing pink-red effect. Glue this as indicated in the diagram. The grey transmit-part is made either from cutting a circle of paper or thin card (1.5-2cm diameter) and painting it grey, or by using a grey round button and cutting off the shaft so that it will stick on flat. Stick this on as indicated in the diagram.Cut out silver tape or foil and stick on the bracelet as indicated in the diagram. Cut out (very cleverly) pieces of brown packing tape in the shapes of the alien characters that decorate the rest of the bracelet and stick them on, or else paint them on with beige paint. You may wish to paint the whole bracelet with clear enamel to protect it.Optionally add a lining with foam rubber, to aid the bracelet in not falling off when you wear it.NOTES: Cardboard rolls: the roll from inside a large roll of packing tape comes closest to the right size. A large postal cylinder is too large and a small one is too small. A Pringles packet is too small, but may be easier to obtain. A Pringles packet is easier to cut but is also flimsier; it is recommended to add bulk by sticking on more cardboard to thicken it up.Cardboard: most cardboard you can buy will probably be too thin. The backs of note-pads may provide thicker stuff. The disadvantage of thicker cardboard is that it will not bend as easily, and the cardboard used here must bend. An alternative if available could be thin cork (a few millimetres thick); this will bend fairly easily and add the bulk you need. But only bother if you happen to have some (maybe left over from someone's redecorating or the like). I used it for mine, it worked beautifully. The red button: building this up from strips of cardboard is fairly tedious, and if you can think of a better way, do that.I know Michael Keating! He Played Vila.

Homemade Yugioh duel disk

Today I was bored and made a homemade yu-gi-oh duel disk out of cardboard and some other junk. So first I drew my design and cut out the base part, which held the cards. Of course, I had to measure and trace the cards to make a design that would hold the card in both atk and def position. Then, the hardest part for the base, I designed the spell and trap card zone. Then, by simply cutting out a piece of cardboard and getting one of those pins that fold at the back, I made the field zone. The hardest part of it all was making the deck/graveyard/life-points/arm connector part. The lifepoints area was made by gluing a small calculator onto the d/g/l/a(dgla). The dgla was made of 5 different layers of cardboard so as to make enough room for the graveyard. Next, I got my deck box and cut off part of it and glued it onto the side of the dgla. It worked perfectly for a deck holder with a few miner adjustments to hold the deck in place. Then, with an exacto knife, I cut out the area for the graveyard and added a small slip that pulled up and out to hold the graveyard cards in place. Finally, I cut out a piece of stretchy cloth just smaller than my wrist and glued it on. NOW, WHEN I POST INSTRUCTIONS, YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN GENUINE PIECE OF CRAP! lol. Pictures coming soon.
