Recyled pencil case uses? Answered

I have recently worn a hole in my pencil case so I decided to cut the ends off and break the zip to fully unwrap/unfold it but now I'm at a loss as to what to do with it. If you have any ideas I would gratefully receive them and I promise that if I make an 'ible then I will include a link to the profile of who ever gives me the best or most workable idea. Thanks.

The Ultimate Man Laptop Case (While going green!)

Hey everyone, I recently just had the idea of making the ultimate man laptop case, and once i get some $$$, it will be put into affect. Its body will be made out of a harbor frieght tools case (metal), gonna cut out the front and reinforce with wood, then goes on (2) 6v solar cells. Behind on the inside there will be foam surrounding the DC Volt reader, and if i can manage, two cheap portable speakers that i have that run off a USB cable/aux. They can easily be converted though. Im going to cut out a slot for my SSD to be placed as well as some headphones if theres room. On the bottom part, im going to send those wires to the power controller for the /solar/ and the /battery/ which will be a 12v Gel RC Car battery (long ones that are fairly big). After that comes the DC-AC inverter which will be disected to save space and the plugs will be movable. SPDT switch comes next to switch from 12v to the 5v USB hub thats gonna be installed. Foam will encase everything, then im throwing some .25 aluminum sheeting on top for a nice finished look. This whole project should run me about $350 or so. I realize this case might be heavy, but I think once most of the parts have been sheded of there cases then I think it might be a little lighter. Going to overheat and/or short circuit something? I plan on making a channel for each seperate item in the foam, and throwing 2 USB fans on them. Any help would be greatley appricated with this project :)

Suggestions for painting an Invicta diving case?

So I've got some Instructables in mind for painting a Nerf Maverick. (Wait, you said you were painting an Invicta diving case...) Yes, you're right. The case will be a custom painted case to house a custom painted Nerf Maverick for a Christmas present. However, I have some questions about how to paint it. The case has a rough outside made from what I suspect to be high-impact plastic. The inside is smooth plastic with removable foam inserts and a rubber gasket seal. I know I will have to sand the inside to make the paint stick, but my question is if the outside is already a rough textured plastic, will I need to sand it as well? Also, what paints and finishes do you suggest for painting this case?  The Invicta logo on the back will need to be sanded (although I suppose I could leave it since they manufactured the case). The picture shows what my case looks like, minus the graffiti image. Thanks in advance, and God Bless!

PC Case Mod Vintage Cola machine help!

Hi! I'm looking to make a pc case modded after a vintage Vendo 1950's Coca Cola machine. The problem i'm having is fabricating the front to look authentic.  eBay has been a help getting coin returns and bottle openers, but i don't know where to find (or how to make) larger pieces I may need. I was wondering what materials I should use, and are there sites that sell 1950's style grills, chrome parts or metal sheets. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone here ever get samples from maxim? Recently they now send them in cool little boxes that says maxim and attention electrostatic sensitive devices. I want to get rid of the maxim logo and just keep the static warning so that I can have a cool clear project box that tells people that if they open it that they should be careful because of the static electricity. The text feels slightly raised to the touch. I do NOT want to scratch up the box. BTW, small question, anyone ever have trouble adding notes to pictures? Whenever I create an instructable I have to add it in preview mode, but once in a while I can do it in edit mode. For example I had to post this topic and edit it to add notes to the picture.

I patented a New LED great for home projects and display cases

I have spent three years doing this but here it is. This is a new LED and I actually patented it. Its a screw in unit that has a chip mounted directly onto a solid brass core that takes heat away far better than any circuit board. In addition it screws into any m10x1.5 hole, if you use a flat plate on the front a small insulator and a heatsink or metal on the back with the M10 thread all you need do is make an electrical connection to the plates and you can screw any colour you want into the heatsink. It comes in every wavelength from 380 (uv right up to IR at 1040nm) Ill be adding pics shortly of acrylic displays the 180 degree one is absolutely perfect for these i use frost spray on edges i want to illuminate and leave clear other bits the effect is amazing even masking a flat acrylic and putting two tone pictures using the spray is awsome. iv also designed an off the shelf PCB up to 60watts it drives any series parallel circuit, all you do is program it with the wattage of the whole array. If you program say 15watts in an array with several LED's it powers the array with the exact forward voltage required and alters realtime so the light output is near constant. Also have a patent pending on this as well. I have lots of time and plenty of these available if anyone is interested I am now running a small business based around it and have done some really nice hand crafted kit. More pics to follow all questions welcome Thanks all

I would like for the decorations to be either "Family" or "Reunion" related. I plan to do 80-100 of these for varying age groups between 5yrs. and 80yrs. The cases come in various colors and will be filled with items useful to recipients according to gender/and age group, or something anyone could use one, such as personal toiletries, crafts, cosmetics, etc. As of this time, I'm not sure exactly what will go into them, since my budget is tight, but I would want the items to be useful. How do I join 2 neoprene sheets in a sharp 90 degree angle?

I'm creating a neoprene casing to a small product and I'd like it to have a rather straight and stiff appearance, almost like a molded detail. For that reason I don't want to use normal seams (flatlock, overlock) to join the sides of the casing as it would cause bulgy surfaces or a too wide radius. How is this done in the industry? Could it be done either like alternative 1 or 2 in the picture? Which one is to prefer and which joining method is preferable (sewing, glueing, tapeing)? All ideas are welcome!

Portable media build parts question!!

I'm looking to build a portable gaming and media station but I'm stuck on a couple things and am hoping people here might have some suggestions and/or links. Basically, I bought a large aluminum camera case, big enough to hold a 22" led tv in the lid. I am going to mount the tv in the lid, thinking of just drilling the holes and mounting the tv directly to the lid. Any critiques or problems with that would be nice.Second, I'm going to mount a ps3, a portable media player (think Von Haus) which uses flash drives or portable hard drive via US, and a retropie system. Now where I'm running into trouble is two-fold. One is how to mount the items into the case. Foam would normally work well, but I'm worried about heat reduction, less so for the media player and more for the ps3 and retropie. I'm also worried about having it hardmounted onto the case via glue gun because of any shocks it might get while in transport. I also want to dremel out in the front and the back, and put in ports to be able to connect to an outside source as needed. Basically, I need a number of connectors which mount inside with the port leading out. USB 2/3, HDMI, RCA cable connector (RWY). I can find extension cables, but what I'm more looking for is, say for USB, a male lead on one end to connect to the ps3, and a female lead on the other end which sits inside case but is dremel'ed out to be able to connect a USB from the outside, basically a plate which I can just screw in. Something similar to what you'd find inside a console or similar. Anything which anyone can help with on any of these would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Nox ShowBox Mobdro

Growing roses from seeds

I have a pair of nice, perfumed roses that are getting quite old now. This season one of them produced a nice fruit containing 8 seeds. It is a light pink variety and I also obtained some seeds from a white perfumed rose. Last time I did this was with my grandfather and I was still a little kid LOL The common way of multiplying your roses is by grafting them onto a fresh stem of some wild or low quality roses. The reason for this is quite simple: A "manufacturered rose" is usually designed to look pretty and show certain other features, but not be a strong plant. When using seeds it all comes down to how strong the original mother rose was, not the stock it was crafted on. In some cases you end up with a little bush rose in other cases with something that grows so high that the stem will break in strong winds. But for the lucky few cases that do work good you are paid off with a beautiful new rose. For next couple of weeks the seeds will stay in the fridge to aid germination but if it works out I will take pics of the progress and document it all in an Instructable - but it will be about a year to finnish as roses grow slow from seeds. If I don't forget it again I will also show how to graft one rose onto another to get a bush with different varieties in one.
