Contest? Answered

So where is the total of votes for our projects? Sorry this is my first contest here so I do not know these things. I see page views and favorite but how do we know how many votes we have? Someone said that winning is not by votes alone, so does this mean we could have a low number of votes and still win a contest? I am confused, lol

Contest question? Answered

Was looking at entering the Humana Health challenge contest with one of my older instructables.  Was wondering if my LED interactive table is to old for the contest? Friend of ours has a son with autism and saw the table, she said they have similar tables for sale for sensory seeking autistic children, but none that are interactive like this one. So I thought this would be a great thing to enter as well as my others.  If its too old, I get it - Keep things fresh, if not, am I missing something? Which with me is usually the case, often resulting in me going - oh  This should be simple for someone to answer, I'm sure its me just missing something like a date. After all it has let me enter some of my other instructables that are very recent.  Thanks in advance for the advice and or answer.  Here is the page for the instructable in question. https://www.instructables.com/id/Analog-LED-Table/

Efficiency contest

Disclaimer: I may be biased, since I have an entry in the running.I am very confused as to why the current leaders of the efficiency contest are in the contest at all, nevermind winning. One is not instructions for making anything. It just says "watch less TV". It may be good advice, but it is not a DIY project. One is a recipe for bread. It may be wonderful and delicious bread, but it has nothing to do with being green. One is about making a suit out of a sleeping bag. I suppose this would allow you to turn down the heat, but that is a bit of a stretch, (besides, so would a sweater - and the instructable doesn't say anything about this being the reasoning).I don't mean to disrespect these fine instructables, I am just saying they are totally irrelevant to this specific contest. But not only are they in the contest, they have been in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place since voting opened 2 days ago. Who is voting for these entries, and why?

Contest question?

I was thinking of entering the Party Food contest and Monster contest but I was wondering...if I become a finalist in both contests (hopefully :), will that affect my chance of winning each contest? Like I probably wouldn't be given a prize for the monster contest if I'm being considered for one in the party food contest?

contest voting rules

I am still new to this site and enjoy it very much, I log on every day more than once and utilize 'ables by others on a regular basis. I recently entered the Mothers Day Contest and monitored it closely by votes, hoping, of course, to be a winner. By votes, I finished about 12th (YAY!!) As I waited for the results from the judges, I was a bit confused as to how an instructable (a very good one) from ranking by votes around 30's got to be the winner?? How does the judging work with the votes of the users?

Possible Contest Topic

Is there a contest about the things that can be done with wood pallets? Ever since I saw an instructible showing how to take apart a pallet as well as the amount of wood used to make them, I have wondered if there has ever been a contest to show how useful they can be as potentially free lumber and hardware. After all the uses for pallets that i've looked up on the internet, there are about less than 50 uses for recyclable pallets, keeping these materials from ending up in a bonfire or a landfill. The link below can explain quite a bit about this subject. http://www.greenecoservices.com/31-ways-to-reuse-wood-pallets-make-money/ Maybe a way to lessen the number of pallets that end up being wasted in garbage can be achieved if there was a contest that encouraged the recycling of wood pallets. Anything that can be made from a pallet would be eligible to win whatever prize this contest would have. I personally think this would be a good idea to try. But do any of you think this would be a good contest idea?

Ideas for the laser-cutter contest

I don't have the time or materials or I would attempt it myself. What I'd like to see is a laser cutter mounted to a line-following robot. It could be made to cut out designs you've drawn on various media. Whether it was cutting cloth or stone, I think it would be a great innovation and I'd love to see someone successfully build one. Another fun idea would be a laser-cutter-brander. It would be a predesigned mark cut with a single, stationary laser (or laser assembly rather). It could be used to put your mark on wood, plastic, etc. Better than heating up a piece of steel, I'd reckon. I just figured I'd post a couple suggestions, since I seriously doubt I'll be able to put anything together, especially within the timeframe. Please PM me if you make one of these, cause I'd love to see how you do it. Anyone else have an idea that you may not get to actualize?

Trouble with multiple entries in a contest?

So I wanted to enter two projects into the current Metal contest.  I entered one without a problem, but my second instructable for whatever reason can't be entered.  It is eligible for contest entries as far as I know.  When I'm on the page it will allow me to submit in other contests, just not the metal contest.  I checked the official rules and under section B, paragraph 3 the rules state that multiple entries are allowed, though only one entrant can win a prize.  So then, why can't I enter another recent instructable?

I will not do an instructable on the flaming pumpkin because it is already all over the net and is not my idea. The sculpting techniques are inspired by pumpkingutter.com I thought the techniques would be way out of my league but I just tried it for fun and it worked well.

I entered a design contest...

Spoonflower has weekly design competitions.  I don't have time to enter most of them, but Betabrand was sponsoring this one and it seemed interesting. The theme was 8 or 16 bit inspired graphics, bringing to mind retro gaming - without copyright infringement.  Betabrand is planning on making pants and some other stuff with the winning design.  I can't do certain things halfway, so I started designing a game in order to make the fabric pattern.  Hopefully eventually I can hire someone to do the coding for me so I can turn it into a simple in-browser game. I've attached an image of my design. voting is open today.  Here's the link to the voting, in case you're interested: http://www.spoonflower.com/contest_voters/new?contest_id=206
