listing crafts

Other than knitting and sewing what would be crafts? I do woodworking ,metalworking as craft ,i do not think that those would quantify for this. Any ideas ? to expand this ie. leatherwork? wood carving? I am the guy that build stuff not the guy that thought it up.

The Dark Side of Crafting?

I was recently sent this update from UC Berkeley and Indiana University, and thought I would pass it along.  I have never had a brush with the "Dark Side" of crafting they describe here.  Have you? Do you sew clothes, print posters, or shop for craft supplies only to realize your craft has negative effects, e.g., on the consumer or society at-large, morally, socially, and/or legally? Do you see a “dark side” to craft? If so, UC Berkeley and Indiana University researchers conducting a research project on handcraft and computing would love to talk to you. We will conduct interviews by instant message, email, phone, or in person within the next few months. To help us with our research, please email Daniela at daniela@ischool.berkeley.edu, Jeff at jbardzel@indiana.edu, or Shaowen at selu@indiana.edu.   image blatantly stolen from pirateluv which just has so many other cool things on it too.

Crafts to make for the boyfriend?

I'm 16, and me and my boyfriend have been going out for six months soon. I want to make him something for Christmas. He said he wants something that reminds him of me. I can make most anything if I try, 'cept for shop/wood things. I also have this little puzzle box and in it you can fit something up to the size of like a 50 cent piece. I want to maybe hide something in here as well- anyone got any ideas?

Colored Rice Crafts

Add a splash of colorful to any room. These colorful rice creations were originally made as Easter egg decorations.  I don't see why this technique couldn't be used to make other fun decorations as well!!  A colorful rice alphabet would look nice on a child's wall. If you answered yes to these questions, you should totally enter Venus Zine’s 4th Annual Craft-Off Contest, a competition pitting the craftiest in the land against one another to come up with the best, most creative, most fantabulous DIY creations imaginable ... on a budget.Winners will be chosen from the submissions received, and the best projects will be featured in the winter 2008–2009 issue of Venus Zine, on newsstands December 1. Simply Amazing Paper Craft by Peter Callesen

Check out Peter Callesen's portfolio. It's full of wonderful paper craft and his interpretation of classic fairytales. I particularly love the way the original medium, often a piece of A4 paper, is an integral part of the art.Link from AndrewM.

Attempting to create a traveling arts, crafts, and music festival.

Hi! My name is Miranda and I'm trying to start up a traveling arts, crafts, and music festival that will tour America for one year. PLEASE CLICK HERE I've worked in the production industry for the past few years and I feel as though there aren't enough festivals that really showcase independent artists/crafters/musicians. I'm using Kickstarter to raise funding in order to make this happen. If you aren't familiar with Kickstarter, it's an all or nothing crowd funding site where you present a project and have people make a pledge. In return for making a pledge, you offer a reward. I'm offering some great hand made rewards and I would love it if everyone could check it out. Thank you so much.

Mariko Kusumoto

I have been trying to create color stripes in the same manner as Mariko Kusumoto. Cotton and silk thread have not worked. I think I need a different tool to apply polyester dye or different thread. The second image is messy but it was to test the strength of the dye on the bubbles. I think my problem now is how to draw the lines using polyester dye before steaming.

So I've got this brick...

Sometime last year I received a brick that is very special to me. It came from the outside of the old technology wing of my school when they were knocking it down to make way for the new building, and I have a lot of great memories from those rooms. The only problem is...well...it's a big red brick. Its only current function is as a doorstop to my bedroom which I stub my toe on each time I enter. I'm growing sick and tired of it but I don't want to get rid of it either. I figured I might do something crafty with it instead, but unfortunately other than the creative application of paint and glue to make it a less-than-charming piece I can put on my shelf, I'm drawing a blank. Does anyone have any ideas?

decoupage

I am working on an instructable decoupage project, and it's nearly finished. To make it easy, I am supplying all of the art, but it's about six or seven pages to be downloaded. I took pictures from my old Pompeii guide, and altered them plus used some copyright free clip art resized to purpose which amounts to about six or seven pages. Am not quite sure how or where to do the art  pages in my instructable. They don't need to be seen separately, and the Steps pictures show what you are cutting out. But where do I put them to download? This is my first instructable, so I just need some help. I have designs for two more decoupage projects, all artwork either altered from books or copyright free. I am a professional artist and collage is my hobby, and my favorite home decor projects.  The picture below is my project. Would really appreciate some help getting started. My thinking says that the very first step should be the art to download, but it's all these pictures that don't need to be seen separately.

In need of help. What can I do to make my craft project better and more popular?

I had recently made my own school bag out of some, of my excessive amount, of scrap fabric, took pictures of its creation, and then added it to instructables.   I have minimal views and no comments. I feel that I have done something wrong in making it or showing how I made it.   Can someone give me advice on how to make this better for future references.  I know it is entered in the back to school contest but I am not trying to make myself win now, since I messed up.  I just want to fix it for later.
