Ok, one of my idea for a current project is to recreate my own model/version of the game pod out of the David Cronenberg film eXistenZ.If your unfamilar, see the pics and video - Essentially the 'game pod' is a biological virtual reality games console. And i must say i am a fan of the film. Now, i need some help, both with ideas, and with build methods.Ideas- I require an idea as the the use of the device - eg, an external hdd enclosure, a wallet, what ever.- I Have a base that im going to use, in the form of a beach stone. So the size is 125mm x 125mmMethods- Although i have a base 'stone' i need to sculpt a little extra, to make the nodule like bits. and genrally curve the shape a bit, what can i use? would bondo do? and whats the UK equilivent?- I want to have a silicon like finish, like the film, i was planning liquid latex, is that a good idea? what else is there thats better?I would appreciate any help anyone can give.ThanksGmjhowe

The amazing students in Arizona State University's Reflective Learning Research Group which is part of the Arts Media and Engineering program (phew), made a pretty cool Sensor Squid Relation Game. The venerable Becky Stern describes it as such:"The Sensor Squid is basically an Arduino-controlled, Bluetooth communicating 6-foot plush cephalopod used to control a collaborative Max/MSP game about community-generated media."In other words, it mediated group dynamics to create a positive decision-making collaborative environment. Still confused? Just watch the video:

We just bought a Wii (thanks to the $50 price drop) and are having a blast, as expected! I'm wondering if there are any games out there suitable for a two-year-old so she can play, too. Nothing complicated of course, just something where she can wave the wiimote around and have something interesting happen onscreen.

END ZONE The Card Game End Zone is a fun card game using strategy while choosing a way to win. Here's one of the most interesting facts about End Zone: Only one deck is needed to play. Each deck must have exactly 100 cards. At the bottom is the Blackout card, or End Zone card. The blackout card has no picture. Each deck must have one blackout card. Each blackout card is placed at the bottom of the deck and must be shown to each player before being placed there. The whole point of the game is to get your opponent to draw the blackout card. But there is a catch. At no time can you look through the deck to see where the blackout card is. Any cards that were played are sent to the bottom of the deck at the end of the controller's turn unless stated otherwise. This is where strategy comes in. You will have to remember how many cards were already played in order to make an accurate guess where the blackout card is. Here are the basic steps to playing. 1.Each player draws three cards a the beginning of the game. Because there is only one deck, you would have to synchronize between draws meaning that you would draw a card, then your opponent would draw a card, then you would draw your second card, and so on. This only makes it fair. When it is your turn: 1.Draw one cards. 2.You must play one card. You are allowed to activate a card during the first turn. 3.Discard two cards `to the bottom of the deck. 4.End turn. When it is your opponents turn: 1.Opponent draws two cards. 2.If you have a card that has a lightning bolt in the top corner, you can play it after your opponent draws. 3.Opponent makes move. Once again, cards with a lightning bolt can be played. 4.Opponent discards two cards. 5.Opponent ends turn.

Now that we've moved, Clicquot doesn't have access to the outdoors to hunt, hide and frolic like she used to. She's ten years old now, and starting to slow down a bit anyway, but I don't want her to get the indoor-cat-cabin-fever-crazy-sickness. She's not much of one for toys or lasers or anything, but she's already started chasing imaginary things! I'm worried that before long she'll start talking to herself.

I know that its possible to get a ps3 running Linux, turning it into a fully functional computer. And some people say that it will make a good gaming computer, but the hardware doesnt seem to meet the requirements, only 325 mb of RAM when most games require 6gb. Will a ps3 be a good gaming computer running linux, or is it only good for gaming as a console?

This is for a halloween carnival and will be used over and over again, so I would like for it to be fairly sturdy. I thought of cutting insulating foam and using it, but it would probably break easily. Other ideas I have had: bondo plastic styrene sheeting (yard sign material) cardboard plastic dip (dip foam pieces in it?) great stuff foam I would like for the pieces to be white, fairly sturdy, about 1" thick or so. Nothing is jumping out at me as inexpensive and durable. Thanks for any help!

Check out the amazing Zelda: The Quilt of Power and Galaga Retro Arcade Quilt from Carolina Patchworks.I've had the Zelda tune running through my head for weeks now. Now up on Etsy. The Legend of Zelda may have introduced an entire generation to the joy of colorful worlds of monsters and heroes filled with melodies of bleeps and bloops, all contained in a little plastic box connected with wires to the TV.Bosses and Triforces, dungeons and new swords, secret doors and endless maps; these inspired fear and joy beyond anything a 256x224 set of pixels wavering on an ancient CRT had any right to do. Return to that world by way of a 64-by-64 grid of pixels emblazoned in all their low-resolution glory across a 100% cotton quilt. Octorok and Leever threaten Link amidst the rocky Overworld's bushes and water, as a Darknut patrols in his Underworld dungeon.- Approximately 64" square.- Made from 100% cotton fabric and batting.- Machine wash cold, tumble dry low.- Pieced and quilted by machine in smoke-free, pet-free, and geek-friendly home.via Evil Mad Scientist.

I am planning a baby shower for my friend and we are expecting about 50-100 co-ed people. We already have a place picked out and now all the details need to be planned. Please comment if you have any stories that you would like to share about a baby shower that you attended or hosted where things went wrong and how you think the "fails" could have been prevented or avoided. Post any definite no, nos! To add to that, if anyone has any success stories about baby showers that they have been to, please share what made them great. I still need great game, food, and center piece ideas for a large group. Post any must have's! The theme is underwater and we would like to have as many cheap and environmentally friendly things as possible.

Spoonflower has weekly design competitions. I don't have time to enter most of them, but Betabrand was sponsoring this one and it seemed interesting. The theme was 8 or 16 bit inspired graphics, bringing to mind retro gaming - without copyright infringement. Betabrand is planning on making pants and some other stuff with the winning design. I can't do certain things halfway, so I started designing a game in order to make the fabric pattern. Hopefully eventually I can hire someone to do the coding for me so I can turn it into a simple in-browser game. I've attached an image of my design. voting is open today. Here's the link to the voting, in case you're interested: http://www.spoonflower.com/contest_voters/new?contest_id=206

Borderlands has very interesting loot chest/lockers, and I think it would be a great idea to try and build some of them. Like the way they open up are amazing. It would be a great idea to make as a actual storage unit. I will be doing some research myself, but I am a noob at this. so it would be easier if someone with experience would be able to build one.

So I have access to six young minds by helping my wife and retired teacher to sit with them 4 days a week. Four I drive to school while the parents (my children) earn a living. Two are easily motivated and do well with Legos. One likes robots, they all do math window games. I teach chess and play when thy want ( no Queen or rooks for me ) Programming is my artistic expression but I would push too hard and blow them away. What low level intros can be a leap into DefCon Kid status that you know worked well in your experiences ?
