Glueing Rubber

I'm trying to make a long inflatable rubber tube buy cutting a bike inner tube and then resealing the ends. I'm doing a bit of a trial run with all the suitable materials I have knocking about but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I need it so I can inflate the tube with little or no leakage (not to any great pressure) and I would like it to remain at least semi flexible so that means I cant just pack the last 2 inches with hot glue. Any suggestions? I plan to try poly-cement, epoxy, hot glue, super glue and melting the ends together but I'm sure someone has had some experience at this.

Glueing Plastics Together? Answered

When I say plastics, I mean more specifically, LEGOs. I'm glueing them together because I'm trying to make LEGO headphones, so I would need something permanent. I've heard people using cyanoacrylates and clear plumbing glue (anyone heard of Oatey?) I thought about using hot glue, but I'm not sure if that would give me the bond that I'm looking for. Would Gorilla Glue work too? Or would it be a bit of an overkill? I simply need a glue that will hold the LEGOs through enough wear-and-tear to last, and no discolouring of the pieces. And when I glue, should I glue the sides of the pieces together, or put glue around the dotted studs on the tops of the bricks? Any other glues or advice that you could enlighten me with would be greatly appreciated. :)

How to glue feathers.

I want to glue feathers to a small curved wooden box in a lifelike manner. (I know wooden boxes aren't usually feathered, but you know what I mean #;¬) The feathers are about 2 inches long and a bit fluffy.  PVA glue has been suggested elsewhere but is it possible to do this in a reasonable amount of time as I can imagine dislodging un-set feathers while adding others.  Another alternative would be is hot / cool melt glue but I can imagine this as being too bulky. Does anyone who has done this have any tips?

plexiglass glue adhesive

I've been hunting for an adhesive or glue to build projects out of plexiglass.  The clear plastic available in many local hardware stores.  Talking to the stores I have been directed to purchase glues that they stock, but these never provide me with the bonding I am looing for.  I suppose what I am looking for is a chemical weld similar to what you get working with pvc and the glues available for those water tight seals.

Seal Glue Glitter on Plastic?

I bought some fancy reusable clear plastic cups and I applied some glue glitter on them.  Unfortunately, the dry glitter glue scrapes off, so I'm wondering Is there a sealant that can: 1) keep the glue from being scraped off, 2) dries clear (the glossier the better), and 3) is non toxic?  Tried Mod Podge spray sealer, Glossy Accents, even finger nail polish.  Any suggestions?

Best adhesive to attach used wine corks to wood and/or plastic? Answered

I'm making a door mat of old natural corks, so the adhesive needs to be heat resistant and waterproof.  The corks will be spaced, to allow dirt & water to pass through; so, the adhesive should be strong enough to withstand the daily treading, without the benefit of the support of other corks packed closely together. My first thought was to hot glue, but that has no flexibility and the corks would probably pop loose very quickly. I've seen wine cork instructables using wood glue, Gorilla (R) glue and rubber cement. I haven't worked with the first two.  Any experience with these materials? Your input is appreciated; thanks, Community!

Removing Gorilla Glue From Skin Answered

Has anyone found a way of removing the brown 'Original' Gorilla Glue from skin.  Earlier today I picked something up by the wrong side which I'd just coated in the stuff.  I've just spent 20 minutes washing and scrubbing my hands as per their FAQs and have just about lost the stuff, but has anyone come up with a miracle way of removing it? Note that this is the brown foaming polyurethane glue; not the cyanoacrylate type.

Best way to glue Acyrlic and Delrin?

I got some semi-transparent acrylic laser cut by ponoko and I want to adhere it to a backing made of Delrin.  Since the acrylic is semi-transparent, I'd like to use a glue which dries clear.  I've scoured the interwebs, but most of the glues I found are non-transparent.  Any ideas? The piece will just hang on a wall - it doesn't need to withstand significant stresses or anything.  Thanks!

Wire Glue, Solder Free Fun.

Well, I'm not very good at soldering, for one simple reason, I've not done alot of it since my school days. This kind of solution is perfect for someone like me, who often only needs a simple led circuit to hook up inside a prop.It would save me having to get the soldering iron out, and could easily be an advantage when getting circuits into strange shapes.Carbon is one of our favorite elements. It makes diamonds, it makes all known life possible, and it makes pencils (and who doesn't love pencils?) Also, it seems that carbon fullerenes (buckeyballs, nanotubes, etc) are going to do a lot in our future. Time to bring a little of that microcarbon goodness into your home and make it work for you now. "Wire Glue" Conductive Glue uses microcarbon technology to make a glue that also conducts electricity.Via Thinkgeek

Hardening Play Doh Kinda Stuff

Hi There! I need some kind of stuff, that acts like Play Doh at first and after a while gets really hard without any heat or preassure ore anything applied. Since I don't exactly know what I'm looking for or how to call, I haven't been able to search anywhere... I need to use a small amount on a hinge on my headphones. The hinge looks kinda like this: |     | |     | |-T-|    |  /   \ with the T part able to rotate. The little horizontal part is kinda broken, so that the T sometimes slips out, which is kinda annyoing while listening to music ;) I don't want to glue it in, because then it won't be able to rotate anymore. So if you have any idea how to call the stuff I'm looking for, or even better, got a recipe how to do it myself, I would really appreciate it! Thank you very much!

is there any way to glue laminated paper to itself?

I have some paper pieces that I laminated with a laminating machine - so it has that smooth tough glossy plastic shielding all around it.  I want to glue the laminated paper together and nothing seems to hold so far.   I have tried roughening up the parts to be glued with a file and super glue - no good.  I've tried "Tacky Glue" - nothing.    I also tried heating up the surfaces to be glued with a hot knife in an attempt to roughen it up and then glue it - not working. I thought heat might work, but I don't have a way to administer the heat to the areas without causing damage Staples work, but they mar the aesthetics - and in some places I don't have a long enough stapler to reach where I need the connection. Thanks for any info -foo

How can I glue thin, flexible, plastic to wood?

I'm trying to waterproof the inside of a box by gluing plastic to the sides. The plastic is already in the right shape (I melted the edges together). The problem is that the epoxy sticks to the wood but not the plastic. It just peels right off. Any suggestions? It doesn't even have to be glue. You'll probably hate to hear this, but lots of stuff isn't available here, hence hackish solutions are probably the best. Thanks for any help. Just so you can get the idea a bit better I'm attaching a picture.
