I am a carpet manufacturer based out of Agra (India) and I have been quite captivated by the magic of scanimation. I have now been thinking of making a series of carpets in scanimated designs and using a coffee table with black printed stripes in lieu of bar mask. (This idea is not mine, please see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua7HOX32PGA … I have no intention of copying it , but taking inspiration from him I wish to take this to a whole new level) I want to know, if this is possible in only black/white or can we use more colors as well. For example, maybe I can have 5-6 turtles with their legs in black , the background white and the turtle’s body in color. Will then I get the effect of movement ? Could someone help me in preparing some designs ?

As some of you may already know, I'm planning on building an electric car this summer. Its all planned out, but instead of using regular transformer based chargers I was wondering if someone could help me design a transistor based charger to reduce weight. Requirements 48 or 72 volts Needs to charge marine deep cycle batteries over night Needs to not have a transformer. Needs to be relatively small (under 1 cubic foot) Needs to be simple enough for me to build myself (I can do it if you can design it) Can anyone give me some links or some good schematics for this? Thanks

I purchased a pretty standard black sketchbook with a hardcover, and I had this really cool idea of lining the entire back with 2 rows of metal studs. The metal studs are the kind with four prongs that are meant to pierce through whatever material, but with the said material in this case being the spine of a book and all, im kind of lost for ideas. does anyone have any ideas how i can do this?

Hello Instructables community users, My name is Jezen Thomas and I'm here to ask for help with designing and creating some stage props to be used during a music performance. I'm not necessarily asking for free blueprints, although I'm clueless as to where I should start and I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction. The first prop I need to produce is a giant telephone. I'm not 100% sure yet if I want it to be a modern styled mobile phone, or a vintage circular-dial type phone. I know aesthetically it's a big difference, but I'm sure thematically either would be just as effective on stage. I would like the phone to be similar in size and design to the giant mobile phone used on the old British comedy show, Trigger Happy TV. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, you can see exactly what I mean here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRWRJtIY5to Again, any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance, and best regards, - Jezen Thomashttp://www.jezenthomas.co.uk

I've been working on a few black and white pieces, and I seem to be having issues with shadows and illuminations. The ones I already have in place make the image distorted and even more eerie than their supposed to be. I know that I do use grey in the pieces, but I want shadows to be a pure black and lighting to be a pure white. Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix this issue? The man with the umbrella is the most troublesome. I cant quite figure out how to illuminate the umbrella, and the shadow he makes is first off, the incorrect shape, but secondly, in grey. I did that to try and distinguish the difference between his feet and his shadow, but I would still like an actual black shadow in the finished product. (help!) The children have a really creepy feeling to them. I want to lighten up the whole mood of the piece by just a notch, and I think the way of doing that would be to add more light to the shadows on their clothing. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

I want to have a cloak for the new harry potter theme at universal in Orlando. I went to this site " http://www.twinrosesdesigns.com/Cloaks%20for%20Sale.html " and looked at one called "Black Wool Cloak with Celtic Knot Trim" half way down the page, which I think is similar to the "Black 100% Wool Flannel Full Circle Cloak with Silver Knotwork Trim" located above it.While it gives the measurements and some of the materials used, I was wondering if it's possible to make it for $50 or less instead of the $155 dollars they want.

Hello everyone, I've been looking at LED projects and devising my own for quite some time now. What i finally decided on was a Plexi glass tube containing a bonsai tree, with an LED array above to give it light. My plan for the LED array is squared away. and i have selected my tube (diameter of 8in). My hold up is the base and the roof of the tube. I want a fairly heavy material which can be machined to yield a snug fit. Does anyone one have any suggestions for the material or a possible source? if at all possible i would like this component to be less than 30$.

Hello and once again welcome to my mask making shop. Now i'm in the mood to create masks this day, but i don't know what mask to make this time. The images from 1 and 2 are the comparisons of a spring trap mask i made a few months back, but unfortunately it hadn't been too well thought out since it's a slant instead of a bulk of the mouth. That being noted i was thinking either i can redo Springtrap's mask or try out other masks. Remember, this is all on opinions so just let me know what you think and i'll try to make a mask that anyone would be interested in seeing as an instructable. Thank you for your time and have a grand day of creativity!

Hi! Longtime lurker,1st time poster. I am wanting to make a kinetic work that kinda resembles ghosts... fabric that moves similar to this but more covered like it's someone with a sheet over themselves... I have bought nitinol (.15" gauge), burnt my fingers applying electricity directly (LOL) and thought I'd try a mechanism to pop up similar to a jack in the box or whack a mole, or a cam and follower. I really love the NiTi but I am open to any suggestions from any resourceful peeps here. I am gonna go shopping for toys to open up sometime this week for ideas but in the meantime... The main features I want are: random activation, pop up go back to original position, inexpensive... Thank you in advance for ANY insight, ideas. Much appreciated. Yours truly, The Lurk

I decided to be Marilyn Monroe for Halloween and I have a long pink dress that I am going to alter to emulate Monroe's pink dress from the film Gentleman Prefer Blondes. Does anybody have any ideas how I could do this? The three main things that I need to do are get rid of the rhinestones in the middle, make a bow for the back, and get rid of the straps. I know how to alter the middle but have no idea what to do about the bow or the straps. Any ideas for how to make the bow would be very appreciated. I know that I could just cut the straps off but there is no support on the top whatsoever and the top is a little loose on me. The material is silk so if I just cut off the straps I'm pretty sure the dress would just fall off. Any ideas are very appreciated!

Hello! I need step by step instructions which shows how to build a hydro power system. I have to do this for a small hostel in the mountains. It needs to make 12v atleast and will use a alternator.I will need lots of help from you guys to build it all.Particulatly on the runner(what type for best efficiency, how to build it, cost, tools)and on the housing for the turbine(what material to use,it will have to be very durable and strong).I am an electronics expert so no need to explain to me what is what. Include a circuit which can charge a 12v battery bank . I am aware how a rectifier can be used to convert the alternator's AC to DC.I would like the rectifier circuit too.Added bonus if you show me how to make a housing for the turbine. Also I would like a homemade charge controller circuit too.The controller will have to have dump load options as well.If you can give a good way to water proof the whole thing... Kudos to you I will need all the plans for this project Alternator, Charge controller ,Blades, How to best wire battery bank etc. Please explain what materials to use etc. And please be aware this will be a rather low budget project.I prefer maximum efficiency and please do not worry yourself about where i will get flowing water etc.And please post your own pics if possible. It may not be possible for me to use power tools and a welder,I prefer simple tools, if not, no problem.

My first Instructable was how to build a drafting table for $50, take a look to get a feel for the design. It does it's job just fine but I'd like to improve upon it. First of all, I don't really have a system to raise/lower the table- I've just been propping it up with boxes and stuff. I'd like to have something attached to the table so that it can easily be adjusted and I'll have a few less pieces to lug around. Second, I need to put a rail on the edge of the drawing surface to keep work and tools from sliding off. I found a small drafting table that I ended up giving to a friend with a rail like the one in the picture below. It's sort of like a metal ruler with L shaped holes in it for screws- so you can lower the rail if you don't want it in your way. Where can I get something like this- or would I be able to make one?

I know that this type of question has been absolutely done to death (where did that expression come from anyway?) but I have a premise for a science fantasy story. I have a skeleton of an Idea of what the story will be, but here's what I have so far. Time: unspecified. Disaster: sometime in the distant past, a disaster the likes of which hadn't been seen since the biblical day's of old was swiftly falling upon the land. Somewhere in in the middle of the pacific ocean, a poisonous green fog begins to seep off of an unremarkable island, volcanic in origin, about a square mile in size. This wouldn't have been a problem, since such a small amount of fog would have eventually lost itself in the vastness of the planets atmosphere, and the stuff it was made of was largely biodegradable through a variety of ways found in nature. So it was sensationalized for a while, with the usual kerfluffle, and then it was quietly forgotten as some new crisis arose, banished to the shady corners of science, with only the ocassional visit from some obscure science foundation sponsored trip. And that was that. That is, until, somebody noticed it was growing. And sure enough, it seemed that, contrary to what the specialists said, it was slowly, steadily, patiently growing, getting thicker and thicker. Eventually, (about four years) an expedition was chartered to go into the now opaque cloud. Here is one adventurers account of what it was like. " After a looong and boring flight, we neared the destination. Looking out, all I could see was what looked like a big greenish-brown mound. the truly weird thing about it was that it's edges weren't very well defined and looked like what you would expect something like a giant cloud of steam would look like that was left to dissipate, but there was a definite edge to it that billowed like a great sheet of canvas in the wind" Note: this is not the end of the story and setting, just my present atention span. I promise to include more of the setting and premise in the comments, but for now i'm completely fried.

So I'm planing on covering a wooden Kleenex box with Starburst wrappers. However I'm not sure what type of liquid adhesive I should use. Is a glue/water mixture good enough? Is there anything on the market that I should use? Any homemade concoctions that would do the job? Any recommendations on how to give it a gloss finish? I'd appreciate any input you have as to what I should use. Thanks.
