If anybody likes automata, but can't be bothered to work in wood and metal, try Flying Pig models. They (mainly he) make and sell cardboard kits that move in interesting ways.Obviously, most of them are for sale, but he has some free models for downloading, which change very occasionally.Probably the most interesting parts of Flying Pig for this site, though, are his Workshop Notes blog, where Rob updates readers on the process he goes through developing his models (he's part way through a dinosaur at the moment, and has released a kids range). He also has a section of mechanisms, with animations of all the paper mechanisms he uses, plus several that don't go into paper models (like a stirling engine).Generally, it's a great resource for anybody interested in engineering, paper or otherwise.

We got a school festival coming up traditions, and I was charged with the duty of makying a roasted pig over an open fire. Not really, just a model. I really couldn't find a name for it, so I'll ask here. It's a pig. With a stick through it. Over fire. Then you eet it. So far, I was thinking either just make a basic shape and fill it with newspapers, or use a few bottles. Any ideas? (Sorry if the pic is inapropiate)

Hi i am getting a new guinea pig shortly, i have a lot of experience with them over the Easter weekend, for four days, i will be camping up in the mountains and will have to leave it behind as it will be roughly 7-8 weeks old, will it be OK left alone? she will have a spot to hide in her cage and will have the company of a old guinea pig my main two problems are we have a young dog who stalks the guinea pig while its in its cage, and it may terrify them if i'm not around two, the older guinea pig may attack the smaller one, like nip its ears, etc my question, after all that is buy the guinea pig now (holiday in two weeks) or after the holiday leaving it with some else or getting someone to drop in is not an option

I once saw a TV show about China. There farmers were using methane to run everything for the house. A pig lived attached to the house and the waste went into some sort of digester. The pen was cleaned each day and waste was pushed down a sealed chute. Any ideas on making such a setup? I really would like to get plans and instructions for a digester and piping .

I just discovered the artwork of Patricia Waller. She seems to mostly make stuffed crocheted items, but despite the bright cheerfulness of the first glimpse, the content is weird, spooky, gruesome, or otherwise unexpected. These are no lace doilies! Some of my favorites are the hermit fairy, man-eating tiger complete with bleeding arm, and the slightly annoyed-looking roasted pig. There are lots more. I can't decide whether I'm more impressed with the bizarre subject matter or the remarkable detail.

How do you motivate people to pick up trash so that roadways are safer and wild life and planet do not suffer?
I see so much trash along the highways here in Texas. It is dangerous because it draws boars (wild pigs)who get hit by cars and trucks, Lately there has been so much I fell like telling people Trash Texas instead of please do not litter or Don't Mess With Texas. How can a person motivate others to beautify the Road ways again?

I saw a program on TV about the use of methane gas in rural Chinese homes. They had a digester under the floor of the pig pen which was attached to the house ? The pen was cleaned each day and the waste was washed down a drain which was the waste holder for the digester. The whole house was heated by methane gas and all the lighting and cooking as well. It sure looked like a good idea for someone off-grid . The way fuel prices are going, it my be a pretty good idea for people who are held hostage by the fuel providers. I am of the opinion that there are a lot of very smart people on this site, so if anyone can think of a way to do this, let's hear from you.

I need help. yet again... im making a piggybank that has wings on hinges(when pigs fly...) there is a lever that when a coin is inserted the lever is pushed down the lever is hinged on one end and the other end is the end that goes down. the end that goes down has a string. the two wings have a string on each running from the wing to a rod that rises from beside the coin insert on each side. i had one string run from wing A trough a eyelette on rod A through a eyelette on rod B then onto wing B. i then had the string from the lever go over the length of string between the two rods and then back to the lever. that only lifted the wings ~1 CM the wings need to be lifted ~6 CM but the downward pull is only ~1 CM and is not variable. i have several ideas floating around but i would appreciate your help.

How to make a mini crochet goose? Or knitted? It's made of string thats all i know!! :) I'd even appreciate a pattern.
When I was a youngster I had a mini farm play set. It had a cow, pig, ,chicken, goose, etc..... All were made of string like cotton, not furry string. The animals were not more than 2 inches high, and were life like, not animated like amigurumi. The goose was my fav, and I would like to make one of my own, I can't find mine but I can describe him. He was: About 2 inches high, he had orange feet with wire to form them and an orange beak which was used to put the stuffing down into his body. I don't remember him having wings, but he had a long neck with a little red piece of string around it for a bow.. I absolutely love this toy and if anyone has a pattern to email to me that I could scale down even would be very much appreciated.. I want to make a mini farm set for my new baby neice!! :) I am going to learn to crochet, and try to have it done before she turns 4!!! LOL Someone once told me it may have been an Annies Attic pattern but I haven't found the book yet.. Thank you so much.

Hi, i living in Bosnia and Herzegowina in Southeast Europe (probably you heared for that country if you are living in USA, Barrack Obama loves us!). I live in city usually (not my house), but on holidays in my village (something like mountain). I readed a lot off books at home about animals, and i love animals. I like to watch them, play with them, take photo of them...) and because i am living in village with my old parents both more than 60 years :P and my brother I cant play with anyone expect animals. My brother is lazy and just plays some games like CS and Tetris on laptop and doesn't like experiments and animals. I am 16 years old. I have seen lot off animals in my mini forest at my property and at forest near my property lot off animals like: birds, bats, frogs, bugs and i rarely i have seen: rabbit, wolf, wild pig, squirrel... So how to attract and catch any animal easy with 100% success without buying any trap expect buying something really cheap under 3$ or using something found in forest? (BUT SOMETHING AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE SO THAT MY FATHER WONT RECOGNIZE TRAP, I WANT TO CATCH ANY ANIMAL EXPECT BUGS, SPIDERS, FROGS).AT LEAST A BIRD EVEN IN WINTER HOW TO CATCH? I DONT WANT THE TRAP SEEN BY MY FATHER NOT BIGGER THAN BALL. I WILL NOT HURT BIRDS BUT JUST WANT TO PICTURE WITH THEM AND I WILL RLEASE IT AFTER SOME PLAYING AND TAKING A PICTURE. SO IF YOU DONT KNOW ANSWER DONT SAY ANY COMPLIMENTS!!! I DONT HAVE PLANT FOR MAKING BIRD LIME AND I THINK MOUSE TRAP IS TOO EXPENSIVE!
