Dollhouse repairs

I bought a dollhouse made 25 years ago and someone put white oak tag like a poster board paper on all the ceilings of the rooms in the dollhouse and I want to take it off. It doesn't peal easily and right now it makes the rooms look tacky. Anyone have a suggest how I can get this paper off?

Melting silver to repair jewellery

Hello everyone, Iam a disabled pensioner living in Australia. I have a few pieces of silver jewellery where links have opened, and require "soldering". A jeweller has quoted me $40 each repair. I have a 3 inch square of silver sheet left over from a jewellery course I took years ago, and want my husband to melt it on the links for me. He has tried a hand held soldering iron and also a blow torch, neither worked. Please can someone advise us what else to try ? They are only minor melts required, but we cant make the silver molten in our garage. Many thanks

how do i fix a broken refrigerator? Answered

Yesterday evening I heard something that sounded like an electrical short. Then I started smelling that smell that happens when something shorts out (burning electrical odor). Now my refrigerator/freezer is getting warmer and warmer. You can hear it trying to "cycle on", but then nothing happens. Someone told me it was probably just a switch. Any suggestions on trouble-shooting this problem?

How to mend a small nick in a Playtex Living Glove? Answered

I use these gloves all the time to do dishes. They are a pretty sturdy glove. I like using the hottest water possible when hand washing dishes, pot and pans. But no matter how careful I try to be not to put a cut or tear in them, I usually do...and it's always my right glove. Is there some waterproof tape or glue to mend these. This last pair has just a tiny nick, but water still gets inside the glove. Thank you for any help in advance.

How to repair a piece of metal jewelry without soldering.? Answered

I have part of a necklace my mother used to own (the pendant part) that has a broken area(a gap) where you attach the jump ring to the piece. The jump ring I attached is probably thick enough where the pendent won't fall off, but I don't want to take the chance. It has swarovski(sp?) crystals and I'm afraid the heat from soldering would ruin the stones.

What is the best way to repair a small leak in a non-pressurized PVC drain pipe?

I have a slow (approximately 10 mL per 10 minute) leak in a PVC drain pipe. Cutting out and repairing the entire section would be extremely annoying, and I'd undoubtedly introduce another leak. Has anyone had success repairing a non-pressurized leak in PVC with caulk, or a specialty product such as http://plast-aid.com/ ? Specifically, could I just fill up the space between the reducing bushing and the coupling shown in the picture?

My Maytag Performa toploader washer stops moving during wash and rinse cycle.

I watched it fill with water, then the agitator started moving. After a minute or so, the agitator stopped moving but the motor was still running. I moved the knob to the spin cycle and the washer drained and spun as normal. Wonder if there is some sort of belt that may be wearing out? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Merry Christmas!---Rob

My puppy got to my new crocs. They are the kind with a solid top and vents on the side, I wear them to work. They are black, if that helps. The little man chewed little stab-wounds in the tops down near the toes. Is there any way to resurface or sort of smooth them out without ruining them, or is there a (somewhat) easy way to add a toe piece to them that would camouflage the damage?

How can I repair water damaged exterior bricks?

Solid brick home has suffered severe winter with water damage causing some bad flaking and literal breakage of bricks in two places. Shallow damage in area of about 3' x 3' on outside of chimney; deeper, more severe damage affecting maybe six bricks in one corner near the ground where large chunks have cracked off. The house is painted brick, built in 1937 with a layer of brick outside, a layer of concrete, and then another layer of brick inside, so the exterior walls are brick clear through to the interior. There is some water leakage into the basement from the corner damage.

Invisible Fence Indoor IFA 12 transmitter...does anyone know how to repair?

I had an Invisible Fence installed in my yard. I have two small dogs that are inside most of the time. I purchased two Invisible Fence "Pet Keepers" which are 5" square transmitters that are used as a fence for inside the house. These little devices are $150 each. I have had mine for awhile but one wasn't working until the dog was right next to it. I took it into the Invisible Fence store and they told me there was only a once year warranty. I purchased another very painfully. I'm really tired of the racket they have going...selling batteries for $15 each, charging around a hundred bucks everytime the line outside is damaged and needs repair. I brought home the old one...(IFA 12 transmitter). IF told me that the antenna may have gone bad or something but they don't repair..why would they when they can sell you another for $150? Can anyone tell me how this transmitter could possibly be repaired? If so, I'll use it elsewhere in my home!?
