How to Cut a Watermelon

Intro: How to Cut a Watermelon

this technique makes quick work of any melon. stripping off the rind and leaving the center to be sliced or carved into a work of art.

round melons are the easiest to work with, but this method works well with any size melon as well as cantaloupe and musk melon.

STEP 1: Stabilize

slice an inch or so off the stem and bloom end of the melon and stand on end to stabilize the melon for cutting. for larger melons, it may be necessary to cut it in half around it's equator and stand it on the large cut end.

STEP 2: Trim

while securing the watermelon with one hand, make downward slices cutting off the green and white rind in strips. curving the knife to fit the contour of the melon is the trip to this step. continue cutting strips and turning the melon until all rind is off.

STEP 3: Tidy

carefully tidy up the melon by removing any left over bits of white that you may have missed during the rind removal process.

STEP 4: Cut

now the melon is ready to be cut in half, slice, cubed, chunked, dices, planked or carved in any shape your heart desires.

stuffed monkey bear dog things with knives scare me, makes me think of Leprechaun, or that movies about Puppets, tiny things with knives, i dont even know if the friggin Leprechaun had a knife in that movie or any of its sequals but as evil as it was i assume at one point it had a knife. a knife or any pointy implement in any untrained hand can be scary. one of the first things you lean in knife class is how to avoid stabbing anyone with your blade. a skill that is well worth the cost of a reputable course.
