Introduction: How to Have Lucid Dreams, and Further

About: well here i am, i like anything home meade like jewlrey. im also interested in manga and graffiti though im too ##### to really do any.

I saw somebody on Instructables did an Instructable on lucid dreaming, but I thought I could further this, and elaborate on it more

*RE-EDIT: changed image in step 4 back again due to its apparent non-epeleptic siesure causing

MANY THANKS to this guy, check out his instructables, it really is an awesome idea for dream journals; https://www.instructables.com/id/Dream_Journal/?ALLSTEPS

Step 1: Starting Off With Some General Information on Lucid Dreaming

(correct me if im wrong on any of this)
lucid dreaming is when sombody is in a dream, but they know they are, and with this knloedge can perform any tasks not doable in waking life. by this i mean in a lucid dream you can
-Fly (this one is the most common)
-use telekenisis
-go out with (or perform acts upon) the person you desire the most
-ask out the person you desire the most or "pop teh question" (with this you build up confidence and can actually do it in real life)
-posess people
- overcome fears and phobias (by imagining yourself confronting your fear and knowing that it cannot harm you or pose any threat to you, it can then by confronted easier in real life)
- i've even heard of people having 360 degree vision
-meet other people in teh dreamscape (im a bit skeptical about this)
-practice and recite things for added confidence
-ANYTHING YOU DESIRE

Step 2: Begining Your Journey

OMFG!!! sounds pretty cool now, right? but how do I obtain this level of lucidity?
I severely recommend STARTING A DREAM JOUNAL. for all tea guys out there it may sound pansy-ish but its worth it.
keep your journal near your bed, don't remove it from there and keep a pen or pencil near with it and every time you wake up from a dream, don't hesitate and laze about in your bed, WRITE YOUR DREAMS DOWN! I have previously lazed about in my bed and forgotten good dreams and have regretted it, hell this morning I'm regretting not writing down my vampire dream, the only thing I can write down now is "last night I had a vampire dream, I wasn't lucid, I forget the rest". also when writing your dreams down DONT SKIMP ON THE CONTENT, write as much as you remember.

Step 3: Reality Checks

DO THEM!!!
I will be walking down the road and then from out of the blue hold my nose close my mouth and try to breath, pretty stupid huh? slightly but its worth it I'm doing a REALITY CHECK. thats where you do something that if you did it in a dream you would realize you are in a dream because it would be distinctly different from waking life. DO THEM ALL THE TIME, ANY TIME, whenever you think of dreaming or sleeping or reality checks do one, and after a while you will get so used to doing them you will even do them in your dreams. I would recommend GETTING A BUDDY to remind you to do reality checks now whenever we see eachother we start looking at our hands, flicking lightswiches, reading stuff, and pinching ourself.
A FEW REALITY CHECKS
-adjusting light levels, in a dream though you can fly, shoot fireballs, and see the Eiffel tower it seems you cannot adjust light levels, so when your think of a reality check flick a switch, and if nothing happens either consult an electritian, or your in a dream and you have just become lucid
- hold your nose and try to breath through it, if your dreaming your not really holding your nose and you should be able to breath regardless, if your in waking life you cannot breath and once you realize this you should stop holding your nose to prevent suffocating yourself. (yes I know the guy in the photo has a nosebleed its just to illustrate)
-pull your finger, no its not what your thinking, in your dream you become maluable and you can strech, my friend does this reality check all the time because its easy and subtle
-check yoru hads, in dream hands become distorted and look weird, if your hands look weird then you might be in a dream.
-read somthing, in dream text jumps about and becomes hard to read (though a friend of mine apparently read an entire brochure in a dream, kinda mundame dream huh?) if your text doesnt jump about you in waking life, if it becomes hard to read or changes in any way you may be dreaming
-pinch me in dreaming, in a dream when you pinch yourself your not really pinching yourself in real life and so you dont feel pain with it.

Step 4: Find Patterns

once your dream journal has started to become fat START LOOKING AT DREAM PATTERNS. in a dream if you continuously meet sombody, or do somthing (sometimes it might be a reoccuring nightmare) then that is a dream sign, or whatever it's called and whenever you see that person or do that thing in waking life, DO A REALITY CHECK (just for fun do one now, yes right now dont put it off any longer) that way if you get into a pattern of doing a reality check whenever that happens then in the dream you are more likely to become lucid.

Step 5: I'M LUCID

now calm down when you become lucid keep calm at any cost or else you will wake yoruself up (PERFORM A REALITY CHECK NOW in real life) and ruin all of your hard work. first few times this can either motivate you to have more lucids or demotivate you and be fustrating, but either way you should stick with it. another note is that when your in a lucid dream you may become un-lucid where you forget your dreaming, this cannot be helped but don't give up on lucid dreaming (REALITY CHECK)

Step 6: Another Method

one method i found good for inducing a lucid dream (Wake Induced Lucid Dream or WILD) is by napping in the morning, when you wake up (and after you have recorded any dreams in your at-hand dream journal) try to fall back asleep, but continiously thinking you are about to sleep and be ina dream and that you will become lucid, and you should slip out on being awake into a dream in which your (hopefully) lucid.

Step 7: Lastly Some Further Notes

it is also belived that lucid dreaming can help you have OBE's (Out of Body Experiences) in these you soul leaves your body and travels to teh "astralplain" i dont know much about this so i wont say much on this subject

a person you may want to watch on youtube is http://uk.youtube.com/user/ReeceJones87 he seems to know what he is doing and has some facinating stories

there are a number of lucid dreaming aids either chemical or otherwise
-lucid dreaming masks (see other instructables)
-lucid dreaming sounds or tracks where you play it when you sleep or before you sleep to enduce lucid dreaming either by a sertain sound being made or by sombody in the tract telling you you are dreaming
-chemicals (some people dont belive in using chemicals because it may decreace your chanses of becoming lucid naturally and also beause their artifical and may damage your body)
-green tea is suppost to help lucid dreaming (i just enjoy it anyway before i go to sleep)
-Mugwort to help you remember dreams
-the dream herb or Calea zacatechichi
-Choline Bitartrate, a supplement suppost to help remember dreams
-apple juice (i dont know why its just suppost to help
and many more which i cannot be other naming to be honest

also if you are intrested in lucid dreaming i would reccomend this fourm http://www.dreamviews.com/
its very very good for all of your needs either for research or discussion
