Introduction: 2 in 1 Crochet Baby Booties With Leg Warmer

About: A Software Engineer. I love learning new things. Hooked up with Instructables. It is the biggest find I ever made. :D Cooking and Crochet are my passion. I love to learn different techniques and cuisines.

This project is about a 2 in 1 crochet Baby Booties and Leg Warmer. Now that our climate is getting cool, I wanted to make for my 6 month old niece a Cute Booties with Leg warmer. This would make her feel comfortable, warm. It looked good on her baby feet and she loved the warmth of it.

The crochet Booties and Leg warmer help to keep baby's legs warm and are good for the crawlers. It keeps away rug burns and an easy clothing to wear around the house. They make nappy changing quick and easier. You need not pull up and down the pant always for diaper changing. They are ideal for babies in nappies! It keeps the nappy area loose and free.

That's how I came to the idea of combining Booties with Leg warmers making it easier for all the mothers to change the Nappy! A good Warm wear for the little babies!

I had come across Crochet Grown-Up Booties by tesla94. I got the idea of starting the booties from the toe from her. I have presented here a remix version of her Booties.

Step 1: Materials

Crochet Hook - 4 mm

Terms Used:

hdc - Half Double crochet

Step 2: Round 1

Round 1 - chain 2, 6 hdc in first chain.

Slip stitch to the first hdc stitch.

Step 3: Round 2

Round 2 - Chain 1 and do 2 hdc in each chain. There should be a total of 12 stitches.

Slip Stitch to the first hdc.

Step 4: Round 3

Round 3 - Now every second stitch work an increase.

Go around alternating the sequence 1 hdc, 2 hdc in the same stitch.

There should be a total of 20 stitches

Step 5: Round 4

Round 4 -

For every third stitch work an increase. Go around alternating the sequence 1 hdc,1 hdc, 2 hdc in the same stitch.

Step 6: Round 5-8: Blue Portion

Round 5-8:

Change the color to blue yarn. Work 1 hdc in every stitch.

I did this for 4 rows.

Step 7: Round 9-12: White Portion

Round 9-12:

Change the yarn from blue to cream. Work 1 hdc in every stitch for 4 rows.

I kept measuring it with the baby feet if it was of the right length from the front of the ankle to the toe. This will form the foot portion.

Next step is to start the ankle portion.

Step 8: Round 13-21: Ankle Portion

Round 13-21:

Here start from the middle point of the top portion of your bootie. Go in left direction to right. Work 1 hdc in every stitch. When you reach the end of the row do not slip stitch.

Turn over. Chain 1 Continue 1 hdc in each stitch.

Do this for 6 rounds.

Now secure the open end in slip stitch. Invert the Booties.

Now we have completed the Booties.

Step 9: Leg Warmer

Do sc stitch around the entire ankle portion.

Now we will have 20 sc stitches in total.

I did this with the blue yarn.

Step 10: V Stitch

Chain 3 and 1 hdc in the same stitch. Now we get the first v stitch. Miss 1 stitch and do 1 hdc in the next stitch. Chain 1 and do 1 hdc in the same stitch. Now we have 2 "V" stitch

Do this for the entire round.

You will have 10 "V " stitches.

Slip stitch to the first stitch of the round.

Step 11: Crocodile Stitch -1

Chain 3 and do 4 hdc through the right leg of the V stitch. Do Chain 1.

How to do it??

Notice the "V" stitch below. We have to do hdc from under one leg of the V stitch.

Yarn over and then take thecrochet hook under right leg of the V stitch. Yarn over and pull it through the leg. Yarn over and pull it through all the three loops. We have to do hc through the leg of the V stitch.

Step 12: Crocodile Stitch - 2

Now turn your work. Do 4 hdc now through the other leg of the V stitch.

Now you have completed 1 crocodile stitch. Miss the next V stitch and do the next crocodile stitch. You will have a total of 5 crocodile stitches in each layer.

In the similar way complete other crocodile stitches.

Step 13: Complete Your Leg Warmer

Now for the next layer do the V stitch and the crocodile stitch.

For doing the V stitch alternate the stitches between the center of the crocodile stitch and at the intersection of the adjacent crocodile stitches.

So in this way I have completed 8 layers for the Leg warmer which was of sufficient length of my niece. If you want more you can keep adding more.

I loved the way the crocodile stitch loos. They look pretty on the baby legs.

I made another pair of it for the other leg.

Adorn it on you baby and make them feel warm.
