3-D Puzzle

Materials:

Matboard

Autocad Software (or hand drawn)

Laser Engraver (or scissors)

Tape

Plastic Straws

Hot Glue

Teacher Notes

Step 1: Creating Pieces

Design 2-D shapes on AutoCad Architecture

Print out shapes with a laser engraver and matboard

Step 2: Constructing 3-D Puzzle Pieces

Tape pieces together to construct 3-D shapes

Step 3: Creating the Connectors

Use scissors to cut the plastic straws to various lengths

Step 4: Putting It Together

Take your 3-D shapes and pieces of straws to put the pieces where they would go if the completed shape (my example cube) was formed. Then hot glue the pieces in place. Let sit and dry.

Step 5: Customization

Paint or design your new ornament to your choosing!
