Hello and welcome to this Instructable!
This Instructable, unfortunately, will not be on how to print your Bulbasaur planter, but it will walk you through how to decorate your planter and make it ready for your plants. (If you would like the design for the Bulbasaur planter itself, you can find it on tinkercad.com as "Bulbasaur planter" and download it as a .stl file).
Step 1: Gather Materials
You will need:
- Non-toxic paint (I suggest Apple Barrel brand as it is cheap and multipurpose)
- Plant saucer (can be optional if the 3D print was printed on fine mode, which is where it is printed very slowly and precisely, ensuring no holes are present)
Optional: add rocks as decoration
Step 2: Paint a Base Coat
This can take several layers of paint. I used a combination of the Kelly Green and the Laguna Blue (more blue than green) from the Apple Barrel paints to make the Bulbasaur teal color.
Step 3: Make the Eyes
Outline the eyes with white with red in the center. Then, add a white oval in the middle of the red.
Step 4: Add Spots/ Finishing Details
Touch up any areas that aren't to your liking and add the spots that Bulbasaur is known for. (I looked at a picture of Bulbasaur on google and estimated where the spots would appear on my planter) I used the same Laguna Blue and Kelly Green for the spots (this time more green than blue).
Step 5: Optional: Place Bulbasaur in the Saucer
When it is done drying, you can place your Bulbasaur into the saucer if you want to. You can also add rocks around the Bulbasaur for decoration.
Step 6: Re-pot Your Plant!
All that you have left to do is plant your buddy!
Congratulations, you have a cool planter that you can proudly show to your friends and family!
