3D Printed Double Helix Christmas Ornament

Design and model by Christopher Barefield

I modeled and rendered my ornament in Solidworks. It features a double helix that spirals around a central star. The star hangs from two links of chain that when printed on a 3D printer that uses soluble support material, will hang freely allowing the star to move.

Very pretty! Does this get printed with the star inside or do you have to slip it between the loops of the spiral?

The star and chain are designed to be printed within the spiral as one single part. Depending on the resolution of the printer and the support material used, the chain may or may not be able to move.
