Step 1: Step 1: Research the Meaning of My Name
坤/kun/ (simplified version is the
same as original version) Structure of Chinese Character:
Left-Right Radical ( Simplified version): 土, means soil
Method of Creation: phonogram
It is one of the eight trigrams, stands for the earth.
Step 2: Step 2: Innovative Interpretation
In ancient times of China, people use 乾/qian/ and 坤/kun/ to represent heaven and earth. And the earth is 坤.
It is formed with two parts, one is 土/tu/, means soil. And other part is 申/shen/, it is a pictograph, showing a picture that a river across the farmland, sounds familiar to everyone.
In my opinion, the character 坤 shows an image of compatibility, it nourish creatures and could carry everything in the world.
Step 3: Step 3: Design
Taking the exterior shape of 坤 as a reference, I created a vast farmland, where planted with fruits, trees, wheat, and vegetables, a buffalo is captivating, farmers are seeding, cars on the road and boats in the river. This is what I would like to use to reflect the unique feature of the earth, it takes everything in a harmony.
Step 4: Step4: 3D Modeling
In my 3D model, the image above can be perfectly built. However, due to the limitation of 3D print machines, I amplified the things on the earth to make it realizable in 3D printouts.
