Ever crave something sweet and chocolatey? I know that some of you are not chocolate lovers I mean I wasn't either until I got married and my husband convinced me that chocolate is delicious and isn't my enemy and now I'm addicted to chocolate and this 4 ingredients recipe for chocolate fudge is perfect, make it 5 ingredients if you add walnuts like I did. You don't have to but it takes the chocolate fudge to the next level. Try it and you'll thank me later because its easy and taste amazing and it will get you going back for seconds. Supplies:

Step 1: Ingredients and Tools

Ingredients

  • 3 Cups Milk Chocolate Chips
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened Condensed Milk
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup chopped Walnuts (optional)

Tools

Step 2: Prep Baking Dish

Line a 9x9 in square pan with parchment paper and lightly spray with cooking spray.

Step 3: Add Ingredients to Saucepan

In a small saucepan add chocolate chips, milk and salt.

Step 4: Melt Chocolate Chips

Over medium heat, melt chocolate chips with milk and salt. Stir often until everything is combined and chocolate chips are melted.

Step 5: Add Vanilla and Walnuts

Once everything is combined take off heat and add vanilla and 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts (if desire).

Step 6: Stir

Stir everything until all ingredients are combined.

Step 7: Add to Baking Dish

Pour the mixture into your lined pan and flatten out.

Step 8: Walnuts (Optional)

Add 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts on top and gently press down on mixture so the walnuts stick.

Step 9: Refrigerate and Cut

Refrigerate for 4-6 hours or until set. Cut up and serve.

Step 10: Enjoy!

Enjoy a few bars of homemade fudge.

Yah!! Finally a recipe that doesn't use a microwave! My best friend in College would bring me fudge every Christmas that her Grandmother made, this looks just like it, I will have to make some, thanks for the non microwave recipe!

Excellent presentation Lyds. Like jonipinkny below I use the microwave. I just put one and one half 11.5 oz packages of Toll House chips along with one 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk into a Pyrex mixing bowl and heat it for 2 min. While that is heating I line a baking dish with aluminum foil (shiny side down or it may flake off onto the bottom of your fudge) and spray it with a non-stick spray. Then I just stir and pour the concoction into the dish and chill it for at least 2 hours ( I find that to be the minimum time to be able to cut it into serving size pieces. Important when you forgot to prepare something for a holiday gathering). I am always experimenting with the exact recipe. I have had success with using different flavored chips such as milk chocolate with dark or semi-sweet, chocolate and peanut butter chips, and I made a layered fudge using dark chocolate for the bottom and white chocolate for the top. Different flavored chips have a slightly different melting temperature particularly Heath English Toffee bits and Andes Cream De Menthe chips, so you may have to pop the mixture back in for another thirty seconds or so to get the right consistency. I will have to try adding the walnuts to the mix I always just put them on top or I sprinkle the top with sea salt. With only about 2 mins of prep time and one bowl and utensil to lick clean you can't go wrong. Now that you have me thinking about adding ingredients to the mix, I think my next batch will be dark chocolate, shredded coconut, and almond extract. Try for that Almond Joy taste.

Hi Lyds, thanks for a brilliant recipe. Here in England our condensed milk comes in 396g (gram) tins - which fortunately is 14 ounces (when I was born we only had pounds and ounces, none of this new-fangled foreign measures!!!). According to google 3 Cups is 384g/13.5 ounces of chocolate. Looks like I need to go shopping tomorrow! Thanks again for a smashing recipe.

That is interesting...you guys dont use those measurements anymore. Here in the US it's all we use...I really should get familiar with the "new tangled measurements though." I'm sure it would be helpful. Thanks and enjoy your fudge!!

I have a similar recipe for Rocky Road Fudge but which takes two additional ingredients and I use a slightly different cooking (melting) method. The two additional ingredients are mini-marshmallows and some real butter. The butter adds smoothness and the marshmallows mimic Rocky Road Ice Cream. My cooking method it to use a faux "double boiler" i. e. a heat proof bowl over a pan of boiling water The vanilla, butter walnuts and marshmallows are added after the choclate has melted and completely integrated with the sweetened condensed milk.

I'll have to give your recipe a try, I have a weakness to Rocky Road. I didn't think of using a double boiler for this recipe although I think it would have worked out nicely.

Could you suggest what weight of chocolate that might be? I have several bars of chocolate I could use instead of chips. Thank you.

The Google says "1 cup of chocolate chips = 6.2 oz" So if you have a total of about 18.6 oz of chocolate you should be good to go. Don't worry too much if you are a little below or above that total weight. Good luck!

Earlier this year I had to undergo a bone marrow biopsy (which with no form of anesthetics was totally painless; great specialist!), then returned to my dr a few days later for the results. She was overjoyed to inform me that I was completely clear, then told me, "Celebrate! Go out and eat chocolate! It Is Valentine's Day, after all!" I said, "Eh. I can take it or leave it. Now black licorice!..." "I like red licorice," she said, "but you go do whatever you want!" Now this ultra-tempting fudge recipe may just do it! I'm going to try it, Lyds, and hope that I do not become too addicted...

Oh wow! That does call for a celebration! I can't promise you that this fudge recipe isn't addictive.... We ate the whole thing and I was planning to share with family haha no self-control when it comes to homemade fudge =)

Yummy fudge! I've made it in the microwave oven using these ingredients and it's even easier because it's less likely to burn. Combine milk chips and salt. Nuke at 30 to 60 second intervals, stirring in between, till chips are melted. Stir in vanilla and pour in greased pan. Top with nuts. Yummy!
