Introduction: A Great Peg Gun

About: I love making stuff out of paper, but I don't really know why!

WARNING: THIS IS NOT A TOY! IT CAN BRUISE YOU IF MISS HANDLED!

This is my first instructable but I'm happy to accept any criticism!!

I'm going to show YOU today how to make a really great peg-gun, just be careful when handling it!

This is used basically to shoot paper targets, water balloons tied on a tree, a wall or fence, etc.

HAVE FUN!!

Step 1: What You Need:

This is what you need:
  • A piece of wood (1 foot long)
  • Wooden pegs
  • Rubber bands (all sizes are good)

The TOOLS you will need is:
  • A saw. That's all!

Step 2: Step 1

Place your wood on a flat surface( a table or kitchen counter) and place a peg on one end of the wood.

Step 3: Step 2

Take 2 or even 3 rubber bands and wrap around the middle of the peg you have placed on the wood.

Step 4: Step 3

Now the end of the wood (opposite the peg), you will make a small ridge from one side to the other. (the picture will show you what I mean!)

Step 5: Step 4

CONGRATULATIONS!
You have made the peg gun. Now you shall make the ammo that goes with it.

Step 6: Step 5

THE AMMO
The ammo is relatively easy to make. First of all take apart the other pegs you have gathered.

Step 7: Step 6

Now you will have a dissembled peg (a small metal spring looking object). Get a rubber band and attach it to the metal part of the dissembled peg (as shown in picture).

Step 8: Step 7

Now attach your ammo to the peg on your piece of wood. Press the peg with your thumb to open it and load the metal ammo into the peg and close the peg.
IMPORTANT: HOLD YOUR THUMB ON THE PEG WHEN LOADING! STRETCH THE RUBBER BAND TO THE RIDGE YOU MADE EARLIER WHILST HOLDING THE PEG TRIGGER. I AM SAYING THIS BECAUSE IT COULD GO OFF AND REALLY HURT YOUR THUMB AT CLOSE RANGE!!!

Step 9: WHAT ELSE COULD YOU DO?

You have now made your peg gun, congrats but now you think to your self "Could I customize it in any way?"
Your problems are now answered! Here is what you could change:
  • Length of your wood and rubber band.
  • Paint the wood.
  • Target practice with someone who has made one! (but don't shoot them!)
  • How far can you shoot the peg?
  • Shoot bottles/cans of a wall

YOU decide what to do with it!

HAVE FUN AND PLEASE, IF YOU CAN, COMMENT AFTER LOOKING AT MY INSTRUCTABLE!!
