Introduction: How to Make a Spiked Club (easy DIY Project)
This build was super simple the tools you will need are, a saw, a belt sander the size is optional, a hammer, and a propane torch but it is optional. The supplies I used an old handle from a shovel, some nails whatever size you want just not to big or it will split the wooden handle. The picture is the finished product. also you can check out the video on the club and on all of my other projects here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp3Gp5g5vT6ChgSes_8NV5A?view_as=subscriber
Step 1: Cutting the Length of the Club
What I did here was I just cut the largest portion of the old handle no real measurement just whatever you feel is the right length. Be sure it is long enough for a nice sized handle.
Step 2: Sanding Off the Paint
My handle had paint on it if you have to buy the handle then DO NOT buy one covered in paint. If you have one covered in paint then you will want to use the belt sander to sand it off. I also used the belt sander to round off the ends of the club to make it look nicer.
Step 3: Drilling the Holes for the Spikes
Ok so I found the right size drill bit i just held it up to the nail. so the reason i drilled pilot holes was so that the wood wouldn't split as easily.
Step 4: Wrapping the Handle in Paracord
Here I just wrapped the handle in Paracord it is optional but I think it looks nicer then the plain wood. I just wrapped around and around there is some cooler wraps out there but I just wanted the color contrast.
Step 5: Adding the Spikes/nails
After drilling the holes I added the nails I also put a bit of wood glue in the hole for extra strength. The holes weren't so small that i could just slip the nail in i still had to use a hammer to put them in put by drilling the holes in the last step it reduced the stress on th
Step 6: Sharpening the Spikes
after adding all of the nails I used an old 80 grit belt to turn the nails into mean looking spikes. after sharpening them I did steps 3 and 5 again to add more spikes crossing the others
Step 7: Darkening the Wood
I used a propane torch to char the wood and make it look more "evil'' this step is optional but it does make it look cooler. In this picture you can also see where the other nails are added
