Sweet treat using seasonal fruits and it's absolutely easy to make.
Step 1: Ingredients of the Crust
- 160g all purpose flour
1,5 teaspoons sugar
0,5 teaspoon salt
120g unsalted butter
0,5dl sour cream
zest of ½ lemon
Step 2: Ingredients of the Filling
- 0.5kg of plums
- a few figs
- 70 g sugar
- a cinnamon roll
- 1tablespoon corn starch
Step 3: Make the Dough of the Galette
Add the flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Add the butter in small pieces to the dough and use your hands or a blender with a mixer head to work the butter into the dough until the mixture is formed into crumbs. Add the sour cream to the mixture and mix it until it becomes uniform. Gather the dough into a ball with your hands and flatten it. Wrap with a plastic wrap and chill for at least an hour before rolling out. Preheat oven to 180 Celsius.
Step 4: Prepare the Filling
Wash the plums and the figs then proceed to remove the seeds and chop up the figs as shown. Put the plums in a medium sized pan, add the sugar and the starch, cook it for a few minutes till bubbles start to show up.
Step 5: Rolling Out the Dough
Remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll it out on parchment paper, aim for even thickness.
Step 6: Finishing Touches:
Put the plum and the figs on top of the dough but leave around 2-3 cm from the outside edge of the dough. Fold the edges of the pie crust up and over so that circle of the filling is visible. Put a cinnamon roll broken in half on the top of the galette. Apply an egg wash.
Step 7: Bake
Place it in the oven. Bake at 180°C for approximately 40 minutes, until the crust is lightly browned and the filling is bubbly. Cool on a rack for an hour before serving. You can serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
