Introduction: Advanced Office Weapons

Part 2 in my office series. Here are more complex and more evil and destructive, yet more rewarding weapons. Enjoy!!

Step 1: The Cluster Mauls

The idea came when one Double Maul wouldn't launch in the middle of a shoot-out. You have no time to work out the cause for this. Is it the Mauly 32 that is too tight? Is it the Mauly 19 that is to loose? You drop the weapon and grab for a new set to fire. When dropped to the floor, the Double Maul fired. One of the clips hit the other guy in the temple. He fell to the floor, bleeding. The battle was won!

What if you had two Double Maul that wouldn't fire. Or 20? What if you tossed 20 "jammed" Double Maul into the cubicle of your co-worker?

Assembly

Assemble as many Double Maul as you want to launch. Make sure that these won't fire. This seems like an easy step. It is not! It is vitaly important that they "almost" fire. We found it best to use a fresh Mauly 32 and a rather worn Mauly 19. If you get a gap of about 0.5 mm in the Mauly 19 opening, you can try assembling.

A Mauly 19 used in the TEC Maul is a great way to get worn parts.
If the Mauly 19 is too loose, the Double Maul won't fire at all when dropped. If the Mauly 19 is only a little bit to tight, it will fire prematurely. It can fire some 20 seconds after you've put it down.

Firing

You not so much "fire" the Cluster Maul as you do the other guns. The Cluster Maul can be thrown or dropped on the target. The havoc begins when all the Double Mauls start launching in all different directions.

Put all the Cluster Mauls on a cardboard tray and place it on the top of the almost closed door of one of your co-workers. The perfect trap.

Step 2: Ruler of the Office

It relies heavily on our favourite office supply: The Mauly. It is easily assembled and uses Mauly 19 as preferred projectile, but other small objects will do. The trigger system makes this a pretty safe weapon when loaded or partially loaded (without the projectile).

Assembly

Stage 1 in building the Ruler of the Office. Start with a regular 40 cm ruler.

Put one end of the rubber band through the hole at the end of the ruler.

Stage 3 in building the Ruler of the Office. Remove one of the handles on the Mauly 51 and slide the handle through the rubber band loop.

Stage 4 in building the Ruler of the Office. Reassemble the Mauly 51 and pull the rubber band until it is stopped by the handle.

Stage 5 in building the Ruler of the Office. Put a Mauly 19 on the other end of the rubber band. The bottom should point towards the hole.

Stage 6 in building the Ruler of the Office. Attach a Mauly 32 at the end of the ruler with both handles along the ruler.

Firing

Pull the Mauly 19 attached to the rubber band back and lock it in cocked position using the Mauly 32 at the back of the ruler.
Remove the handles of a a Mauly 19 and insert it into the chamber to fully load the gun. Notice how the rubber band gently holds on to the sides of the projectile, enabling you to fire at a downward angle without losing the projectile.

Insert a pair of thumbtacks into the projectile, points forward. These do a lot more damage to the target.

Take aim at the target and slightly pull down on the front of the ruler. This is to keep the projectile from entangling in the rubber band when firing. You have to practice a couple of shots before you find the correct angle for your weapon. Notice how the left hand is holding the Mauly 51 as far back as possible. Put the index finger into the middle of the Mauly 51 for stability. This is because the rubber band will flip round the front of the gun and it can be quite painful to be hit by a Mauly 19 over the fingers.

Step 3: The Super Maul

CAUTION: THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WEAPON!!!!! DON"T POINT AT OTHERS!!!!!!!!
(unless it's your boss or someone you realy hate)

This was the first advanced gun constructed. It is made by assembling several Mauly clips and a thick rubber band and has tremendous firepower. With a regular pencil as projectile it can penetrate thick cardboard and empty soda cans. Never point this gun at anyone!

This gun is not practical for random battles, but more of a gun for the determined assassin. This gun IS dangerous!

Assembly

Stage 1 in building the Super Maul. Remove the handles on the Mauly 32's. Mount a Mauly 51 on the outside of two Mauly 32's as seen in the picture.

Stage 2 in building the Super Maul. Mount another Mauly 51 on the end of the Mauly 32 which isn't entirely covered by the first Mauly 51. Then put the third Mauly 32 on the end, as seen in the picture
.
Stage 3 in building the Super Maul. Remove the handles on the two Mauly 51's. Note that the gun has been flipped around in the picture.

Stage 4 in building the Super Maul. Put the rubber band around the row of Mauly 32's and mount a Mauly 51 on the outside. Make sure the rubber band isn't caught between the Mauly 51 and the rest of the gun. It has to be able to travel freely.

Stage 5 in building the Super Maul. Mount the last Mauly 51 the same way as in the last step. Remove the handles on the two Mauly 51's. Make sure the position of the two Mauly 51's on top is offseted a bit. This makes the gun more stable and easier to fire.

Stage 6 in building the Super Maul. This is the final step. Stretch the rubber band and put it along the outside of the gun. As seen in the picture, there should be a double layer of rubber band on the end of the gun.

Make sure the row of Mauly 32's don't have any gaps between them and that they are aligned properly. Failing to do so may peel off the outer parts of your pencil and reduce fire power and accuracy.

Firing

Put the pencil through the row of Mauly 32's with the bottom end first. Push until it pushes the rubber band on the other side. Keep the pencil in position with the hand holding the Super Maul and grab the end of the pencil with your other hand and pull. The longer you pull the further the pencil will go, but make sure you don't pull it too far. A reasonable part of the pencil has to stay in the barrel to get decent accuracy.

Aim the gun at your intended target and release the pencil.

Mount a laser pen on top or bottom for improved accuracy. Plus it makes the gun more intimidating and you feel more like an office commando.

The Super Maul can inflict huge amounts of damage when fired from short range, but because the projectile has a tendency to rotate after a while the long range capability of this gun is rather limited.

We have tried to use a trailing piece of string for stabilizing the gun. That did not work out.
