Airsoft Mag-Pulls (Magpul)

About: Hey instructable-people? I'm planetmuncher, I live in san diego, And I airsoft more than I live. I am making lots of jerry-rigged addons for guns, Along with guides on what my viewers want. Current project-...

Today I'm going to show you how to make magazine pull assists (magpuls). These "Magpuls" are originally created by a company ironically named "Magpul", and were designed for military use. Their purpose is to make it easier to pull a magazine from a pouch. The real steal magpuls the military uses, are made out of high grade rubber and plastic. The ones I show you, are made from only house-hold materials.

Edit: I'm doing another tutorial, Subscribe to me for sneak peaks on my projects.

-Thanks alot guys!

Step 1: Materials

Again, I'm not showing you how to make the rubber ones, These are made of household materials.

Duct Tape (Preferably Black)

Magazine For Your Weapon

Step 2: Tape Pull

Cut a piece of tape about 5 inches long, and then cut it in half long-ways.

Step 3: Tape Trim

Cut 2 inches off of one of the pieces of tape you have.

Step 4: Stuck Together

Apply the smaller piece of tape in the center of the longer piece so it looks like so.

Step 5: Bonding

Apply piece of tape to magazine as seen below.

Step 6: More Tape

Cut another, longer piece of tape, about 10 inches long, and apply around bottom of mag.

Step 7: Complete!

You have finished your first magpul. You can continue to do this for all your mags, Or just leave this one how it is.

Remember: These are for functionality, Not for looks.

Alright, Well I hope my first instructable is a big hit in the airsoft scene.

The bad thing about making tape or string Magpuls is that the "loop" sometimes may fold in on itself, making it hard to pull from a tactical vest or mag pouch. The real Magpuls can be bought for like $3 and actually are like rubber, so can stay sort of rigid in your mag pouches. But good Instructable with nice pictures.

TO combat the collapsing loop problem on these home made magpuls, get a pipe cleaner, or paper clip, or scrap of wire, and build it into the loop so it is more rigid.

I've just made some of these for my G36C, shotgun and M16.......
and i have to say they work a treat , ive got a STEYR AUG phantom on the way - should be here tomorow hopefully , will be making one of these for that too - far better than having to buy one , which can be arquad in the UK cause hardly anyone sells them +_+
great instructable, very easy to follow!

Hey man, can these work for a sniper rifle where the mag goes completely in the gun? If so, can you tell me how?

lol hicaps, most airsofters use the real steel version or use a combination of zip tie, paracord and a screwdriver.

the duct tape version is long gone from use by all but new players, and rarely seen on hicaps for obvious reasons
