Introduction: Amazing Jewelry Cleaner

Never buy jewelry cleaner ever again..this stuff is super amazing!

Step 1: Ingredients

1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 tablespoon dish-washing liquid
1 cup hot water
1 piece aluminum foil

(Please note: This works well for all gold, brass and silver. I have heard that pearls can also be cleaned with this solutions, I haven't tried that yet, but if you do, please let me know :) )

Step 2: Directions

1. Heat water in the microwave for 1 or 2 minutes.

2. Cut a piece of aluminum foil that roughly covers the bottom of a small bowl (like a cereal bowl).
(Lining the bowl out completely makes it easier to remove your items when you're done)

3. Pour hot water into bowl. Place salt, soda, and dish-washing liquid into bowl. Place jewelry on top of foil and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse jewelry in cool water and dry jewelry completely with soft cloth. Discard solution after use and make a new batch next time.

I have found swirling the items around a bit helps a lot, especially bracelets and chains with small links. Hope this helps!

(The photo attached is what your solution will look like after a few minutes of placing your jewelery in the bowl...it's actually quite cool to watch.)

Step 3: Finished!

Voila!
Your jewelry will look brand-spanking new and shiny shiny! Now go show it off to the world!

Theoretically, you can use an aluminum vessel like a cooking pot instead of aluminum foil.

The foil causes a chemical reaction that helps with cleaning. I've tried it without and the results weren't as good.

Does the foil actually play a role in the polishing action or is that optional?

OMG i have so many tarnished brass jewelry i wanted to polished them and seal them with lacquer but if it works I wont be needing to go over those hard steps.thanks a lot ;-)
