Introduction: Amigurumi Cat

Here's my pattern for an amigurumi cat!

The directions for each round should be repeated throughout the round unless otherwise noted, so "2 sc, inc" should be repeated six times to finish the round. The numbers in parentheses at the end of lines indicate the number of stitches left after a round is completed.

These are the abbreviations: single crochet (sc), increase/two sc in one stitch (inc), decrease/one sc in two stitches (dec).

It's crocheted in the round and can be made with one or two colors. The directions here are for two colors. If you want to make a cat without the shirt, ignore the "switch colors" and the "start with one slip stitch" directions.

2-7: sc for six rounds (9)

Slip stitch, tie end.

Step 6: Construction

I prefer to attach pieces by sewing them together with a tapestry needle and yarn.

Attach the arms first so that the end of the arm lines up the top of the shirt. The arms should be flat where they attached. Then add the legs, making sure the feet are pointed forward. Attach the tail so that it is centered between the legs. Attach the ears to the head last.

When all the parts are added, use your crochet hook to pull the ends of the yarn into the stuffed animal. The last two photos show this step. This way you won't have to worry about weird ends or cutting too short and having the knot come out.

Step 7: Nose and Whiskers

Wrap pink yarn around a stitch near the center of the face. Pull two small, equally-sized pieces of gray yarn through a stitch under the nose. Knot the whiskers together.

Step 8: Eyes

Pull gray yarn behind a stitch, keeping a loop (first three photos). Pull the end of the yarn through the loop (photos four and five). Tie a knot (photo six). Cut the yarn and tuck the ends of the yarn into the head.
