This recipe is a remake of our classic Apple Pie.I love apples, pies and small sized desserts. Hence thought of combining all the three to form this dish. These are mini pie crust, filled with apple pie filling, deep fried and rolled in sugar.
They are different from regular apple pies not only because of their small size, but also because they are fried. This gives them a flaky crust. The fried pie are coated with cinnamon sugar to make it a delicious Fall treat.

Step 1: Ingredients
Preparation Time - 15 minutes
Cooking Time - 10 minutes
Serves - 6
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon granulated white sugar
1 cup (226 grams) unsalted butter
1/4 cup ice water
Apple - 2
Sugar - 1/4 Cup
Cardamom Powder - 1/4 Tsp
Nutmeg Grated - a pinch
Step 2: Pie Dough
In a Mixer/Blender bring together All purpose flour, cold butter, salt and sugar. Pulse it or combine till it forms a crumbly texture.
Transfer to a bowl/plate and add cold water till it is sufficient enough so that the dough is coarse and will clump together when pinched.The dough should be a coarse type of texture.
Step 3: Dough
Knead them together and gather them to form a ball shaped dough. Cover with a plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1/2 hour till it becomes form.
Step 4: Apple Filling
Chop the apples. Take a pan and heat the oil.
Add the apples and sugar. Let it the apple caramalize and turn brown.
Now transfer it to a bowl. With the help of a spoon or fork mash them so that they become mushy with small apple chunks.
Step 5: Prepare
Take the dough out of the refrigerator. Dust the work place with all purpose flour.
Roll the dough in oval shape.
Cut long strips from it.
Place a small portion of the apple filling in the middle lengthwise.
Place another strip over the filled strip.
Secure the sides of the dough with your finger.
You can create impression along the edges with your fork.
Step 6: Deep Fry
Take a deep dish. Pour oil enough to to fry.
Heat it on medium-high flame.
Test the oil with a pinch size dough. If it fries right away then the oil is ready.
Now fry the apple pie.
The crust puffs up. After one side browns flip it.
Fry the other side.
I put 3 in a set. It will take just 1 minute to fry both the sides.
Step 7: Serve
Transfer it to a tissue paper to remove excess oil.
Serve them as it is. If you like added sweetness sprinkle some granulated sugar and cardamom Powder.
