Arduino Door Sensor

In recent society, many people forget to close their home doors when they go out, causing the attention of thieves, which has led to theft of homes, and many valuable objects and property have been lost. Therefore, I made an Arduino device that reminds everyone to remember to close the home doors when they go out, this device prevent thieves from stealing.

When we open the door, the ultrasonic sensor will sense that the door is open. Then, the tone generator will sound a warning, and the LED will flash. However, when the door is close, the ultrasonic sensor will not sense that the door is open. Relatively, the tone generator won't sound a warning, and the LED won't flash.

Step 1: Materials

Electronics:

  • 1x Arduino Leonardo
  • 1x Breadboard
  • 1x Base plate
  • Jump wires
  • 7x Red LED
  • 7x Resistor
  • 1x Ultrasonic sensor
  • 1x Piezo speaker
  • 1x USB 2.0 A Male to Micro-USB B Male cable

Hardware:

  • 1x House door
  • 1x Gift box
  • Ribbon

Step 3: Appearance Mechanism

  1. Prepare a box for the Arduino board, breadboard and base plate, also a house door and ribbon for decorative
  2. Cut 3 holes in the box
  3. Put the Arduino board, breadboard and base plate into the box
  4. Use jump wires to extend 7 LED from the first hole to the outside of the box
  5. Use ribbon to wrap the jump wires exposed outside the box
  6. Sticking 7 LED and jump wires to the wall
  7. Ultrasonic sensor can sense whether the door is open or close from the second hole
  8. Piezo speaker extends from third hole to the outside of the box
  9. Connect the Arduino board to the computer from the third hole using the USB cable
  10. Setting up a venue
