Introduction: ArtBot Frame

In this Instructable, you will learn how to make a stylish and offbeat frame for artwork! This project takes around 15 minutes to complete and uses minimal resources. Step by step instructions allow any level of user to successfully complete this project!

Step 1: Materials Needed

  • 6 inches of ribbon
  • 1 hot glue gun
  • 4 spoons
  • 4 forks
  • 4 knives

WARNING: THE TIP OF THE GLUE GUN WILL BE HOT. DO NOT TOUCH THE MEDAL TIP AFTER YOU HAVE PLUGGED IT IN. GLUE WILL BE HOT FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS AFTER LEAVING THE GUN. DO NOT TOUCH GLUE DIRECTLY UNTIL IT HAS HARDENED.

Step 2: Make the Corners

    i. Pick up one knife and one spoon.

ii. Use the hot glue gun to put a dime sized dot of glue on the front of the fork.

iii. Turn the fork over and press the glue to the back of the spoon.

iv. Repeat this step 3 more times. You should now have four "corners."

Step 3: Make the Top and Bottom

      i. Put two of your corners in the middle of your work space. You will focus on these two next.

ii. Apply a thick line of glue to the "front" of one of the spoons (the side where the bowl of the spoon is facing up).

iii. Lay the spoon with glue onto the "back" of the fork from your other corner. Act quickly; the glue will dry fast.

iv. Press the fork and spoon together and hold for 20 seconds.

      v. Repeat with the two remaining corners.

Step 4: Attach the Top and Bottom Together

        i. Get your top and bottom.

ii. Glue a small dot on the tip of one of the spoons.

iii. Make sure your spoons are facing down.

iv. Press the other spoon to the tip with glue. DONOT lay them one over the other. Lay them end by end.

        v. Press and hold for 20 seconds.

vi. Repeat for the other side.

        Step 5: Add Suport

          i. Grab the long side of the frame and one knife.

ii. Apply a thick line of glue to the top of the frame (the "back" of the spoon and fork).

iii. Center the knife onto the spoon and fork.

iv. Press the knife onto the glue and hold for 20 seconds.

          v. Repeat on other side. You can alternate the direction of the knives for symmetry.

          Step 6: Finish Frame

          i. FLIP THE FRAME OVER. The forks should be on the bottom now and the spoons should be facing up.

ii. Pick up a knife and apply a thick line of glue onto the back of it.

iii. Center the knife above the spoon and fork. You can alternate the knives so the serrated edges are on opposite ends.

iv. Press and hold the knife for 20 seconds.

          v. Repeat for the other side. You should not have any silverware left.

          Step 7: Attach Ribbon

            i. Get your ribbon.

ii. Apply one dime-sized spot of glue on each end of the ribbon.

iii. Leave enough room between the ends of the ribbon for a nail or hook to fit through, then press the ends of the ribbon to top of the frame.

            iv. Hold for 20 seconds.

            v. Allow enough drying time. (No more than five minutes.)

            vi. You are finished!
