Avocado Paratha Flatbread

In this instructable I show you how you can make avocado paratha flatbread. Paratha is similar to flatbread, roti or tortilla. This version is stuffed with avocado and it is vegan. When you have some left over avocado and no idea what to do with it then you should try this recipe.

Beside avocado you will need some flour, lemon juice, pinch of salt, oil to bake, chili powder, cilantro powder and garlic powder.

You start by taking a ripe avocado and mash it into a bowl until it is almost creamy. Put the cup of flour in a separate bowl. Add the spices and salt on the flour and stir through the flour.

Then add the avocado mash and first stir it through the flour before you knead it with your hand until a consistent dough. This will take a couple of minutes. Create one big ball and wrap in foil. Let the dough rest for 20 minutes.

Cut the ball in 4 equal pieces the size of a golf ball. Take a tortilla press to flatten the paratha. If you do not have a tortilla press use a rolling pin to roll out the flatbread.

Heat a skillet on medium heat and brush the skillet with oil when warm. Bake the avocado paratha flatbread about a minute per side or until brown patches appear. Keep warm in a clean tea towel. Your avocado paratha flatbread is ready to eat.

Step 2: What You Need to Make This Recipe

To make 4 flatbreads you need:

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon of chili powder
  • Oil to bake the paratha

Step 3: Instructions

  1. Mash the avocado until soft and cream. Add some lemon to prevent the avocado from going brown. Set aside.
  2. Put the flour, salt and spices in a separate bowl. Add the avocado and knead into a consistent dough.
  3. Rest for 20 minutes
  4. Divide in 4 equal part and put in tortilla press or roll into a tortilla shape.
  5. Warm a skillet medium to high heat warm and brush with oil. Bake about 1 minute per side or until brown patches.
  6. Keep warm and serve.
