Bam-Boom Speaker Tube

Introduction: Bam-Boom Speaker Tube

About: I'm a recent college grad, just trying to make it in this cold cold world.

Determined to amplify the speaker on my cell phone with no added electricity, I turned to the only sustainable source feasible, Bamboo.  Each Bam-Boom Speaker Tube is entirely handcrafted, using the finest organic bamboo, personally harvested in my backyard.

The tools which I use, are my trusty Swiss Army knife and a Japanese pull-saw purchased from Home Depot.

That looks REALLY cool, and using the bamboo as a resonant chamber is a very good idea. My guess would be that it makes the sound a little bassey, which might be good, but if you want to bring out the mid and treble sounds you might want to look at a conical "horn". However cutting the bamboo at an angle as you have will deliver some similar effects.

There's some excellent possibilities for learning about resonance and acoustics in this project, do think about doing a proper "step by step" with some discussion of alternative shapes and sizes.
