Well everybody knows that bed bugs can become a serious
headache.specially at night.and the worst part is, they are really difficult to get rid of.once you think they are gone "kaboof" they re-appear out of nowhere.well, i myself have been having some issues with bed bugs recently and tried my best to get rid of them. i tried bug spray but didn't work out well.even they seem to be gone, they come out at night.not only at night whenever you lie in bed.
Step 1: Sleepless Nights and Stained Sheets
Bed bugs cause stains on your bed sheets which cannot be removed and those stains stink too which is gross.
I am a university student who lives in a hostel and our beds are steel framed ones.(so i cannot guarantee 100% that this will work well on all types of bed frames)
I had to figure out to do something about this bug issue with the limited resources available. So i believe someone who is in my situation will find this useful even this is not a serious, tech related instructable :). i found all the images used here on the internet and i do not own any copyrights of them.
Step 2: What You Need
A Hard Brush
You will be needing a lot of hot water so better find a reliable and safe power source too.and do this on a sunny day because the bed and the mattress both need to be dried well.
Step 3: The Very First Thing Is the Mattress
First thing you have to do is to remove the mattress and the mattress cover.
Once you remove the mattress take the bed outside to a spacious area.
Put the mattress to dry well out in the sun and wash the mattress cover well.
Optional : when you put the mattress to dry, sprinkle some detergent power ( a very thin layer ) on the mattress if you and pour some hot water on it only if you can. you have to do this only if there is sunlight enough to dry your mattress or if you are good sleeping on the floor for one or two days.
Step 4: The Bed Frame
Once the mattress is removed, the bed frame can be then cleaned.
Pour boiling water on all corners of the bed frame .every single corner should be poured and washed.once you are done pouring water, brush every corner with the hard brush.put the detergent in water and use it as the cleaning agent.
Once the bed frame is done drying bring it inside and put detergent powder on all the corners and the borders of the bed.put powder along the bed rail, frame slats and connecting corners.
Step 5: Final Step
Once the bed frame is done its time to put everything together.
Its better if you can use a plywood sheet ( the size of the mattress ) to put between the mattress and the bed frame.it further prevents bed bugs from recolonizing.
this method worked for me really well and i hope it will work for you too.
