Introduction: Blocky Dock (phone Stand)

Building your own phone stand that is simple and stylish. and makes a great gift to a friend or to accompany your phone on your desk or near your bed. using just a tablesaw and a miter saw you can build one for yourself.

Step 1: Cutting Section

I cut what I think its a 2x4 down to 8" that I will later cut in half to make two stands.

Step 2: Cutting the Slot

I set my tablesaw blade to 38 degress although you can try and see what angle works best for you then I cut a 1 inch deep slot the width of my phone, I hogged material out by bumping the fence over a bit then cutting the material out, you could also do this with a hand circular saw a tilting router and also a mitresaw.

Step 3: Finishing

I then cut my wood from 8" to 4" with the miter saw and then hand sanded the slot down and then sanded everything down and knocked of the edges and rubbed some boiled linseed oil.

Overall I am very happy how it turned out and it even smells great ! Its very stable and even supports an old heavy ipad 2 in landscape, if you made the angle a bit steeper lets say 35 deg then you could make the slot bigger so it can fit a larger range of devices while still having a good viewing angle.
