Introduction: Broken Egg Prank/Sucker

About: I try to push myself each day to be more resourceful, innovative, & creative. I am constantly inspired by some of the brilliant minds here on Instructables, & I hope that I can inspire others as well. I think …

These broken egg suckers will have your guests doing a double-take they look so real! This is a fun way to turn an ordinary treat into an "eggstraordinary" one. If you make a few extra without the sticks they can also be used to prank the "neat freak" of the house. Here's how...

Step 1: Make the Yolks

To make the yolks you will need:

Two aluminum baking sheets
Paper clips
Lemonade mix
1 cup Light corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
Nonstick spray
Scissors

First you will need to fashion some simple circle candy molds. Do this by cutting the edge off of the baking sheets. Then cut a 1 inch wide strip off of the sheet lengthwise. Next cut the strip into thirds. Fold over one of the sections and secure it with a paperclip. Repeat this process until you've made as many molds as you would like or until you use up your baking sheets. Now set the molds on a sprayed baking sheet and gently press the tops to make sure there are no large gaps at the bottoms. Now make your candy to fill the molds.

Candy Recipe:
In a saucepan combine sugar, syrup, and water and bring to a boil on medium heat. While stirring it frequently let it boil until it reaches hard crack stage. (300* on a candy thermometer) When it has reached this stage pull it off of the heat and quickly stir in your Lemonade packet.
OPTIONAL: Depending on the lemonade the color may vary. You can add some yellow food coloring to darken it if you would like.

Working quickly, fill each mold with about a tablespoon of candy. Once the yolks have cooled completely, remove the molds & tap off any extra pieces with a butter knife.

Now you have some perfect little yolks. Moving on....

Step 2: Make the Whites

To make the egg whites you will need:

Your egg yolks from the previous step.
About a cap full of clear candy oil in the flavor you desire (or invisible kool-aid)
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
Nonstick spray
OPTIONAL: You will need sucker sticks if you are making them as treats. If you want to use them as pranks make them without.

Arrange your yolks on a sprayed baking sheet either with or without the sticks. Leave plenty of room for the candy to spread.
Make the candy exactly as before. This time flavor it with the oil or the invisible kool-aid. Working quickly puddle the candy over the top of the yolks. If you are using sticks be sure to cover a portion of the stick as well. Once they are cooled completely they can be removed from the pan and eaten, packaged as gifts for later, or used in this quick prank...

Step 3: Broken Egg Prank

These eggs make great pranks because, they are safe, mess free, and light hearted. There are a variety of staging strategies that you can use for your broken eggs. This prank is based on an actual experience that I've had. In which I left the room for a moment only to return to a carton of eggs broken all over my floor by my 2 year old! At the time I said, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME..." but unfortunately it was NO joke & it was awful to clean up! This prank recreates that nightmare for someone else yet is luckily a breeze to clean up.

You will need:
Your broken egg candies (The more eggs the better)
A volunteer child (old enough to understand pranking)
An empty egg carton
A gullible "neat freak" victim
OPTIONAL: You can save & clean some empty shells as well to through down too!

Wait for your victim to leave the room briefly, quickly lay down your eggs and stage the child with the empty carton. When the victim returns. An, "OOPSY, IT WAS AN ACCIDENT" is in order. They look so real, it won't be until they try to clean the mess that they realize they have been duped!
