Introduction: Build Your Own Cardboard Sled

About: I am interested in music and technology.

I made this instructable because I like finding unique ways to store things such as pencils and pens in an organized way.

Step 1: What You Need

You will need:

  • Clear Scotch Tape
  • Tissue Roll (x2)
  • Markers (Optional, but recommended)
  • Unsharpened Pencils (x2)

Step 2: Put Tissue Rolls Together

To begin, press in on one end of one of the tissue rolls so that it creates a long set of tissue rolls. Then, tape them together between the two rolls as shown in the picture. Also, you can draw on them to make designs if wanted. We drew Candy Canes for added creativity, but you can draw whatever design you want.

Step 3: Tape Pencils to Sides

Using a small piece of tape, attach the pencils to each side of the sled evenly so that it looks like a sled. Line up the pencils along the edge of the tissue rolls so that they are in line. You can also tape in more spots for added support if needed.

Step 4: Everyday Uses for Your Sled (#1) - Time Capsule

Your Sled that you created could be used as a time capsule. For example, every year (or birthday, Christmas, Holiday, etc.) you could write a message and roll it up like a scroll and place it in and read it a few years later.

Step 5: Everyday Uses for Your Sled (#2) - Pencil/Pen Holder

You can also use your sled to hold your pencils, pens, markers, etc. as shown in the picture above by just sliding them in and taking them out when you need them.

Step 6: Everyday Uses for Your Sled (#3) - Decoration

Also, you can just use it as a decoration on your desk, counter, shelf, etc.
