Step 1: Preparing Your Wheels
Cut four little squares of cardboard and stick them through wooden dowel. Then glue your CD on top and do that on the other side of the wooden dowel. Make two of those and that’s how you make your wheels.
Step 2: Making the Engine
Use 4-5 zip ties to zip tie a wooden dowel to the metal part of the mouse trap. It doesn’t matter what side it’s on. Then tie some string on the end of the wooden dowel and put some hot glue over it so your knot doesn’t untie.
Step 3: Preparing Your Body of Your Car
Cut a rectangle out of cardboard for your base of your car.
Step 4: Assembling Your Car Part 1
Glue your mouse trap to your car.
Step 5: Assembling Your Car Part 2
Glue wooden dowels on both sides of your cardboard. Glue another one across both of those and add some pieces of cardboard under at the corner of the wooden dowels.
Step 6: Adding Your Wheels to Your Car
Cut a straw in half and glue it with the cut facing up. Glue that towards the back of the car. The insert your wheels through the straw and put some tape over the straw to secure your wheels in place. Do the same to the front but instead cut the straws to the same length of the little pieces of cardboard you added to the front and glue them and insert the straws and put some tape over that. After you got the front wheels added(the ones connected with the little pieces of cardboard)make a hook with a paper clip and glue it to the center of the front wheels. Make sure your string on your mouse trap has a lasso so that you can you can wind up your string on your hook.
Step 7: Decorate!!!
This last step is optional. You can add some balloons on your wheels to add grip. You can use duct tape,Pom poms, paint and pipe cleaners to decorate your car and make it look nice.
Step 8: Take It for a Drive!
At this point your car should be finished and ready to go for a spin!! You can encourage your friends to make one too so you can race against them. I hope you had fun making your car and I hope you have fun racing your car!!
