Butterscotch Spiders

Introduction: Butterscotch Spiders

In this Instructable, I will show you how to make a sweet treat for family and friends. This recipe was passed down to me from my Mother who used to make these cookies all the time. The recipe is simple and easy but produces a wonderful dessert.

Please read through all instructions before beginning the cooking process. The time it takes to make the cookies is about 8-10 minutes, so each step happens relatively quickly.

Step 1: Ingredients & Utensils

Here is what you will need to make the cookies. The recipe makes about 20 cookies.

CHUNKY Peanut Butter - 1/3 cup

Chow Mein Noodles - 6oz

Nestle Butterscotch Morsels - 11oz

Peanuts - Lightly salted to not salted - 1/2 cup

2 Quart Pot which will serve as the mixing pot
Wax paper

A large metal spoon

2 table spoons

Measuring Cups

Step 2: Pour in the Butterscotch Morsels

Add the butterscotch morsels into the pot. Stir the mix until it is completely melted. It is key to keep stirring the mixture so it does not burn or cool.

Step 3: Pour in the Peanut Butter and Peanuts

Pour in the chunky peanut butter and unsalted peanuts. Mix them in thoroughly.

Step 4: The Mix Should Now Look Like This

The melted mix of butterscotch morsels, peanut butter and peanuts.

Step 5: Pour in the Chow Mein Noodles

Add the chow mein noodles to the mixture and stir until the noodles are completely coated.

Step 6: Placement of the Cookies

Lay out the wax paper so you can place the mix on it. Now take the 2 table spoons and grab a small amount of the mix and put it onto the wax paper to cool.

Step 7: Final Product

The cookies need to cool for about an hour before they can be picked up and eaten.

Step 8: Tips

1. Maintaining a constant temperature is critical. If the temperature is too hot then the mixture will burn. If the temperature is too cold then the mixture will start to cool and harden before it is complete. I used the lowest heat on my stove

2. When placing the cookie mixture on the wax paper try and take small amounts so the cookies are easier to handle while eating.

Step 9: Conclusion

As you have just found out these cookies are very quick and easy to make! Hope you enjoyed my recipe! If you have any questions or concerns contact me at granby135@yahoo.com.
