Introduction: CHRISTMAS COOKIE TRUFFLES

About: Hey y'all! My name is Lydia and I want to share my passion for cooking/baking with everyone!

Truffles have such a sophisticated name to them and they are such a classic around the holidays or in gift giving. They sound hard to make and that couldn't be farther from the truth. I am going to show you how to make this classic treat that only requires a handful of ingredients (five to be exact) and you can make them under an hour so you might just want to double or triple this recipe. Also if you are extra creative or have extra time on your hands, you can make this look even more sophisticated by color them different colors and piping different colors of chocolate on top of them. I just added Christmas sprinkles to mine and felt like they look perfect so if you want to learn how to make your own Christmas Cookie Truffles follow along with my step by step instructables or watch the video tutorial below. Let's go!

Step 1: Ingredients

  • 15 sugar cookies (Store bought Pepperidge Farm)
  • 5 Tablespoons (2.5 oz) cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups (8 oz) chocolate melting wafers (I used white ones)
  • Christmas sprinkles
  • Weight Converter (if you need help converting the measurements)

Step 2: Process Cookies

Line a baking sheet with parchment.

Place the cookies in a blender or food processor and blend until they have turned into fine crumbs.

Step 3: Add Cream Cheese and Vanilla

Add in the cream cheese and vanilla, pulse until it has combined (it will gather together in the food processor).

Step 4: Roll Into Balls and Freeze

Using a small ice cream scoop out the dough and roll into balls. Then place onto the baking sheet. Freeze for about 20 minutes or until firm. My ice cream scoop was 1.5 Tablespoons but you can make them bigger or smaller as you like.

Step 5: Melt Chocolate

Melt the chocolate in a microwave bowl in 30 second intervals until completely melted or use a double broiler to melt the wafers.

Step 6: Dip Truffle Ball Into Chocolate

Dip the truffle balls into the chocolate using a fork. Tap the fork on the side of the bowl and then place back onto the lined baking sheet. Use a rubber spatula to help slide the ball off onto the pan. Add sprinkles or pipe different colored melted chocolate wafers on top immediately after dipping each ball.

Step 7: Enjoy!

Enjoy these simple yet easy treats!

Truffles usually seem to be too dense to me, but I just love the idea of making them from cookies!

I would say these are probably not as dense as the average truffle =)
