Introduction: Multi-Use Sore Throat Remedy

About: Where there's a will, there's a way! Never give up, never give in...BE the good you want to see in the world. :)

NOTE: This is a "home remedy"... Use at your own discretion and risk.

IF YOUR SORE THROAT SYMPTOMS GET WORSE, SEE A DOCTOR! (I never once will EVER suggest that you don't). Our bodies can't always fight off all infections (obviously), so if you need antibiotics then GET THEM.

I am a supporter of BOTH natural and medicinal treatments (and, yes, I vaccinated ALL of my kids, lol). I believe in taking antibiotics for serious infections like strep. With that said, I am providing this instructable as a natural way for anyone who is interested in it.

This remedy also is beneficial for ANY bacterial or viral infection that can manifest itself in the throat/mouth. BONUS! :)

NOTE: Each ingredient in this concoction has MANY more healing effects then just this one (and I've listed a lot of those out in the last few steps of this instructable). So be sure to stick around to see those!

Step 1: The Miracle Concoction...

INGREDIENTS:

*3 cloves fresh garlic or 3 teaspoons minced garlic

*1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

*Raw or pure honey to taste

ADDITIONAL INGREDIENT:

*Apple Cider Vinegar

DIRECTIONS:

1. Peel and crush your fresh garlic cloves (either with a mortar and pestle or a hand held garlic mincer) and put them in a small bowl or simply put your pre-minced, jarred garlic in a small bowl.

2. Mix in a half teaspoon of cayenne pepper. (Don't worry about it being too spicy, the honey really dulls it down!)

3. Mix in your honey to taste.

THE REMEDY:

Simply eat 1/2 teaspoon of this concoction every 30 minutes. Make more of this recipe as needed.

NOTE: A large amount of garlic can potentially upset your stomach when eaten this regularly (especially if you're not used to eating it), so make sure it's only1/2 teaspoon (no less then 1/4 teaspoon). You can reduce the frequency of how often you take it in a day, but make sure it's at least with every meal and snack. If you have an aggressive level of infection, the reduction of consumption could result in it only working partially, so just take that into consideration.

My kids (ages 5-10 at the time) took this, too, and at the same amounts as listed here. This just goes to show that the flavor is definitely NOT too intense and it's safe for all ages!

ADDING THE BIG GUNS:

In addition to eating this concoction every 30 minutes--if you really want to kick this infection to the curb in a hurry--gargle apple cider vinegar 3 times per day, too.

Step 2: Benefits of Garlic

Honey is a great natural antibiotic too

Strep throat is a bacterial infection of throat, nasal
cavity and its surrounding regions. The bacterium causes inflammation which
results in breathing difficulties. Antibiotics are used to treat strep throat.
Apart from the medicinal treatment, strep throat can also be treated with home
remedies. There are few home remedies for the strep throat that can help you.
These home remedies include: Take plenty
of rest, Increase the intake of fluids, Gargle with warm water can soothe the
throat irritation, Chamomile tea is an effect pain reliever. Warm beverages can
be administered to soothe sore throat, Use of honey garlic and lemon can be
effective, Herbal tea and soups are also effective against the sore throat as
well, Ingredients like garlic onion, black pepper and cloves in your soups are
effective and Take vitamin C for a week or two, whenever the weather is
    changing.

Did you know Vit D is the most important vitamin (more so than Vit C) for immunity and healing? It's fun to learn new things from one another :) Here's just one sample resource: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/01/04/why-this-vitamin-is-better-than-any-vaccine-and-improves-your-immune-system-by-35-times.aspx

Thanks for commenting and sharing your wisdom! Many blessings :)

Sometimes it's hard not to take things personally, and sometimes discussions in the comments sections do veer off the topic of the instructable... but they are valuable nonetheless, particularly this one since it made you clarify your title and emphasize the very real need to consult a doctor. This defines "constructive criticism" and it's one of the reasons I appreciate so much the Instructables community. Benwade's link to the scam charities is also very valuable (and not a personal criticism of you!). I prefer donating to organizations who spend the bulk of their donations on their advertised beneficiaries, so I'm grateful to him for pointing them out (and to you for typing the list!). It's not about a feeling, it's about simple math: any charity which keeps more than 50 cents of each donated dollar is, objectively, scamming its donors. The goal of these organizations is not charity work, it is fundraising, as much as possible, to feed themselves. It is worth calling them out, and it is worth being very skeptical of any claims they might make (like cayenne cures cancer) given their lack of credibility. They are PR machines, not scientific or charity organizations.

CONGRATULATIONS,!! I voted for you and so happy you got the top prize.

    Great job! Jewels

    congratulations :)

Hi Meglymoo87,Thank you for replying. First let me be clear. I ENJOYED your concoction, and I DO believe it will make people feel better. What I am saying about the charity is no reflection on you. BUT, it does matter how much money the charities spend on themselves versus how much goes to the people they're supposed to be helping. So it's not a dead issue. It's something we all need to consider whenever we give to charity.

Thank you for this remedy, I'm going to try it. For how long should I take it? A day? A week? Until the soreness is gone?

How's it going? Did this remedy help you?

Thank you for asking :) It helped! I couldn't find cayenne pepper so put hot paprika instead. And I took it only 3 times a day, but it still helps. Thank you again for sharing the recipe :)

I would take it for at least a week. Maybe even 10 days (like a normal antibiotic). It's basically helping up your immune system so it can naturally fight off the infection (just like antibiotics would), so you can work with your body to figure out the best length of time, etc, to take it. Definitely take it at least until the symptoms are gone. It also depends upon if you know for sure you have strep, or if it's just a sore throat (as this would aid in determining how long or short to take it). Thanks for visiting! Hope this helps :)
