Introduction: Campfire Banana Boat

About: Born in Flushing Queens, NY, and growing up in Maywood, NJ., I learned my problem solving skills from my mother, my handy man skills from my father and my cooking skills from both of my parents. As a Cub Scout…

Ingredients:

1 Banana

1 Tbsp. Mini Chocolate Chips

1 Tbsp. Mini Marshmallows

1 Tbsp. Pretzel Bits {Here is where the broken pieces work great}

1 Tbsp. Peanut Butter or 1Tbsp. Peanut Butter Chips

2 Sheets of Foil

Servings: 1

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Cooking Time: 25-35 Minutes {Cooking times depend on how hot your fire is}.

Note:

You can add, subtract, mix and match pretty much anything you like in the banana, this just happens to be my favorite combination.

Step 1:

With your first piece of foil make a holder for the banana to rest in for preparing, cooking and eating in.

Step 2:

With the banana resting in the foil holder make a slit down the center of the banana making sure not to cut threw the bottom. Peal the sides open a little {More room for goodies} and with your fingers make a space in the banana to place your treats. Place some of your chocolate in the bottom and then add the peanut butter, marshmallows, more chocolate and finish with the pretzel pieces.

Step 3:

Place your Campfire Banana Boat in the center of your second piece of foil and seal it in a pouch. {How to Make a Foil Pouch/Foil Bag} If your are making more than one at a time mark, on the outside of the package what style is inside.

Step 4:

To cook your Banana Boats place them on a grill gate above the fire on either side of the heat. Cook for 25-35 minutes turning and rotating them 180° about every 8-10 minutes. If you do not have a grill grate handy you can place then on the hot coals next to the fire, as level as possible. Remember cooking time can vary depending on hot your fire and coals are.

Step 5:

After 25-35 minutes you can remove it from the fire, open the foil and Enjoy!!!

In my opinion, testing at home before your next camping trip is a must, not that it is difficult to make, it is just that darn good!!!

If your are home enjoying this might I suggest adding your favorite ice cream and whipped cream and turn it into a Banana Boat Sunday.

Warning: Any food coming out of the fire or off the grill will be hot when you go to remove your food from the fire be sure to use something other than your bare hands to retrieve your meals like pot holders, a tea towel or tongs.
