This instructable is going to show you how to make a howling wolf head only using cardboard. It'll take some time and a lot of work, but it's going to be worth it when you finish. To make it, you're only going to need a couple of things:

Cardboard

Cutting Tools

Cutting Mat

Step 1: Get Your Materials!

Before you do anything, you have to calculate how much cardboard you will need to complete your piece. You have to find a sharp cutting knife and big enough cutting mat to make sure nothing else gets damaged. Use a lot of cardboard but only take the amount you need.

Step 2: Cutting the Base Pieces!

Next, you have to cut two identical pieces of cardboard in the shape of a wolf's head. You can add extra details to the head to make it look like it has fur or some sharp teeth. It's very important that the two pieces are identical because it's the only way this will work.

After you finish cutting out the head, you have to cut slots on the top of the piece. They should reach from the top to halfway down the head and be spaced 1/2 in. to 1 in. apart. Make sure to do the same for the nose of the wolf too. For the lower jaw, I cut the slots from the bottom up, which is optional.

Step 3: Cutting the Layers!

The next step is cutting the layers of cardboard that will connect to the base. You will have to cut one layer for each of the slots you made on the base piece. These layers should be tall enough to reach from the top to the bottom of the head. Each layer will be of a different height. Cut two slots in each of the layers about a half an inch apart. Both slots on every layer should have the exact same distance from each other or else the wolf will be uneven.

To make it look like a wolf, you should make the top and bottom of the layers uneven and the sides filled with spikes to act as fur. Then you cut two slots into the second layer after the nose and add two eye-shaped cardboard pieces facing outward. The final piece of cardboard you're going yo cut is the ears. It's just like the other layers but with two triangular spikes on the top for the ears. After that there's just one more step.

Step 4: Connecting the Pieces!

The last and final step is putting everything together. Start with the front of the nose and move back from there. Just slide the layers onto the base pieces one by one. Be careful that nothing bends or breaks because cardboard is very delicate. Now you have finished making your cardboard wolf!
