Step 1: Make the Pan

The pan is made from a disposable aluminum turkey roasting pan.

1. Form the pan into the carrot shape by bending and pressing in the palm of your hand.
2. Coat the interior of the pan generously with a nonstick spray or Crisco and flour.
3. Place in a deep roasting pan run a metal rood through the pan to support the front of the pan. I used a cut coat hanger.
4. Add a sheet of parchment paper to make sure there's sticking.

Step 2: Remove the Cake

It will take a long time to bake and a while to cool. To remove it safely allow it to partially cool in the pan for 15-20 minuets. Then when you do take out of the pan you'll need support the narrow end. I used an empty soda box, but towels would work fine too.

After it's cooled put the whole mess in the fridge for 2-3 hours to firm up.

Step 3: Slice and Dice

With the cake out of the fridge trim the rough and uneven areas with a serrated knife to get a uniform carrot shape.

Step 4: Ice Ice Babby

The icing is pretty simple. Just cover the whole thing with orange icing and a darker orange for the "ribbing". Once the icing crusts, or partially dries tap the icing down to smooth it out. If you have a latex glove wear it. It will help but it's not necessary.

Step 5: Making the The Bunnies

To make the the rabbits wear latex gloves if you have them, it will make things easer.

Once the you have died the marzipan the color your looking for prepare your work surface by taping parchment or wax paper down. Marzipan can be very sickie as it warms in your hands while you work with it.

To make the bunnies start with the oval body section 1x2 inches. The front legs and ears are small ovals the ears get a pinch at the top to form a point. The head is sphere with a little pinch to give it that babbitt shape. To form the back legs start with a small disk then pinch and pull the side to make the foot. We'll add the tails latter.

Step 6: Almost Done

In a large bowl mix a bag of shredded coconut while adding the green food coloring. Stop adding coloring when you get the color you want. Add the coconut around the carrot and place the rabbits on the coconut. With the rabbits in place add the tails with a dot of white icing.

Step 7: The Final Touch

Lastly stick some parsley or other eatable plant in the end and your done.

Cute! I like that you actually cooked the cake in the shape of carrot in the first place. Not too much messy carving or reshaping required!
