Rum has a long and infamous 350 year history from Caribbean sugar plantations to pirates and then syrupy tiki drinks. As varied as its history, there are many types of rums. The good news is that rum is a great base spirit for cocktails. Hazelnut liqueur accentuates the nutiness of fresh coconut water and cucumber adds a refreshing taste to this summer drink.
Step 1: Prepare
Chill a coupe glass in the freezer for a few minutes. Reserve 1 cucumber slice for garnish.
Step 2: Make
In an empty shaker or mixing glass, combine 2 cucumber slices and 1.5 oz. hazelnut liqueur. Muddle for 10 seconds. Add 2.0 oz. coconut water, 1.5 oz. rum and a handful of ice. Using a bar spoon, stir (do not shake) for 15 seconds until chilled.
Step 3: Enjoy
Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a cucumber slice.
