Introduction: Changing Headlight

I am going to show you how to replace the headlights on a 1982 chevy pickup. I am changing the top and bottom headlight, the high beam and low beam. It is very simple to do and very few tools required anyone can do it with a little bit of an idea on how too.

Supplies

T20 torx socket, rachtet, extension for the rachtet, philips screwdriver

Step 1: Remove Trim

Take out the 4 torx screws that hold the plastic trim in around the headlights. You will have to open the hood to take the top two screws out. Then there is two screws on the bottom of the trim.

Step 2: Remove Metal Trim Around Headlight

There is four philips screws holding the metal trim inplace on each light bulb. Remove them and the set them and metal trim aside and te buld should hang down since it is still plugged in.

Step 3: Unplug the Light

Pull the plug in off of the headlight. Then the headlight should be free and set it aside. the bottom headlight is only a highbeam with two prong and the top is a high and low beam.

Step 4: Putting the Headight in

Plug the headlights back in making sure the high beam is on the bottom and the low and high beam is on top. Then put the metal trim back around the headlights and snug up the 4 philips screws on each one.

Step 5: Put Trim on

Put the pplastic piec of trim back around the headlights making sure to tighten the 4 torx screws down. 2 on the bottom and 2 on the top.

Step 6: Test Headlights

Turn on the headlights and switch them to high beam to make sure that they are both working. If the are working it was done right.
