Grab up the kids and some basic craft supplies and create awesome, flowery Mother's Day Cards. They're fast, easy, and way better than those overpriced impersonal cards from the store. Show mom some love and get crafting!
Step 1: You'll Need
2 pieces of contrasting color paper, preferably heavy weight (card stock)
You can make a single panel card like I made, or a folded card. If you choose a folded card follow these directions for the card front only.
Paints - One or more colors. I used enamel, but you can use whatever you have around. If you've got young kids, go with something with a little thickness that's non-toxic, like acrylics. (Watercolors won't work)
Paper punches - flowers, hearts, etc. If you don't have any, use a scissor to cut out shapes
Glue (like Elmers)
Step 2: Make Shapes
Decide which paper you want for your main color. Then punch out shapes to make patterns in that sheet. Do as much or as little as you like. Don't throw out any pieces!
Step 3: Paint Flowers
Paint the punched out flowers and set those flowers aside to dry.
Step 4: Back Layer
Choose the paper that will go in back of the open flowers and use the glue stick to stick the two papers together as shown. (The paper won't curl when you use a glue stick.)
Step 5: Paint Leaves
These are basically just pointed ovals.
Step 6: Shiny
While the paint is still wet, sprinkle glitter on and shake off the excess over a trash can (or save it).
Step 7: Details
Add dots, or tiny flowers, or hearts to the center of each flower. Then paint more dots for detail and color.
Step 8: Glue Loose Flowers On
Put a dot of glue on the back of each flower in the center and stick to the card.
Step 9: Draw With Glue
Make dots and lines with the liquid glue. Then sprinkle with glitter and shake off excess.
Step 10: Curl Petals
When the attached flowers' glue is dry, curl the petals gently up and away from the card.
Step 11: Write Your Message
Write on the back of the card, or inside if made a folded card.
And give it to mom!
