Intro: Cheap Grill Upgrade... No It Will Not Catch Fire!!! ;)

A funn way to upgrade a cheap grill.

Update for those who are concern about that may catch on fire.

This is the third one that I make, the space is enough in the border, and if its true that may catch fire, the ones that already made only get a Little brownish in the internal border.

Thanks for your concern any way.

Step 1: Cheap Grill. US $ 29.

Cheap Grill. US $ 29.

Step 2: General Layout of the Pieces.

Ok.

No measures, since no standar grill, hope this post became usefull en some way.

General layout of the pieces.

Step 3: Attaching the Grill Drum to the Frame.

Attaching the grill drum to the frame. Notice that the holes must be low, so the grill drum stays below the border, in orden to be covered later.

I use the legs that come with the grill to make the spacers.

Step 4: Start Adding the Boards to Make the Table

Start adding the boards to make the table.

Step 5: Adding the Legs.

Adding the legs.

A photo is missing, But yull see that the legs have this long board accross to make it stronger.

Step 6: Making the Cover.

Making The cover.

Step 7: Hom Ñom Ñom Ñom!!!

Profit!!!

With some modifications you could make this a teppanyaki grill, where everyone can grill their own food. Just need to replace the grate with an elevated flat-top.

Great minds think alike Alex. I like how yours is a table whereas mine is a bit more conventional. I'm kicking myself for putting a backsplash on mine now. :) Thanks for your comment on my instructable BTW.

I also believe, desk's life will be short. Because there is not any heat isolation around the grill, even desk is fully wood.

I did made one, last year, a simple one, same sistem, and it just turn a little brown. The idea of isolated one its a goood idea, but in my experience, it could be overkill, since the grill its never leave alone.

Thanks for your time and comments.

It's look good like Lenny said. However, you know some people is paranoiac about safety (you are reading one of them ^^ ). I wish a good work with more safety (isolated) version from you. I believe that would be cool and interesting version with your new ideas.

Love the idea of a grill table! Not so sure about such small spacers between the grill and the wood. Probably ok, but I would check it often. Love the cover to make it a full table. I think it would be possible to make the grill body removable, for ash dumping and such. V2.0 perhaps?
